The wine list at Cafe Sole reads like it was curated by someone who actually ate the food first — French classics anchoring the page, a few California slots for the tourists who insist on Chardonnay, and nothing too weird or too lazy. For a 60-seat bistro tucked into a residential Old Town street, it punches above its weight without pretending to be a wine bar.
The list leans predictably but correctly toward France: Loire Valley whites, Burgundy, and Rhône are the spine here. Henri Bourgeois Pouilly-Fumé and a Sancerre anchor the Loire section with real credibility, and Louis Jadot's Mâcon-Villages keeps Burgundy accessible without embarrassing anyone. Côtes du Rhône from Château Pesquié rounds things out at the approachable end. Where it falls short is depth — no serious Bordeaux, no Alsace to speak of, and the California presence feels more like an obligation than a passion.
The by-the-glass program runs 8 to 12 options and holds up well for a neighborhood spot. Pricing sits in the $12–$20 range, which is fair for Key West, a city that has never met a markup it didn't like. Rotation isn't confirmed, but the standing evening discount — $10 off wine nightly from 5pm to close — makes the glass program worth leaning on hard.
Côtes du Rhône Château Pesquié — $38–$48 (bottle estimate)
Pesquié consistently overdelivers for the price — structured enough for the duck breast, easy enough for a second bottle without regret. In a market where mediocre bottles routinely hit $60, this is the smart order.
Mâcon-Villages Louis Jadot
Most people see Jadot and assume they're getting supermarket Burgundy — and sometimes they are. But Mâcon-Villages in a seafood-forward bistro context is exactly right: clean, mineral, unoaked Chardonnay that lets the snapper in beurre blanc do the talking instead of fighting it.
Sancerre
Sancerre is a safe pick on any French list, but it's also the wine every tourist orders by name without looking at the price. In Key West, where restaurant margins are punishing, the Sancerre slot almost always carries the steepest markup on the board. The Pouilly-Fumé from Henri Bourgeois gives you the same Loire Sauvignon Blanc energy for less money.
Pouilly-Fumé Henri Bourgeois + Lobster Bouillabaisse
Henri Bourgeois makes some of the most precise, flinty Pouilly-Fumé in the Loire — there's a saline tension to it that mirrors the ocean in the bowl. Against a rich, saffron-laced bouillabaisse loaded with lobster, that acidity cuts clean and keeps the whole thing from getting heavy.

The Bottom Line
Cafe Sole isn't going to make you rethink wine — but it's going to make sure you drink something decent while you eat well in one of Key West's better rooms. The nightly $10 off wine is a genuine perk, the French anchors are solid choices, and the overall effort here is real.

La Trattoria isn't trying to reinvent anything, but it's putting in more wine effort than most of its neighbors on Duval Street. Fair prices on Italian bottles, a usable by-the-glass program, and real depth in the Italian reds make it a reliable choice — just don't order the La Marca Prosecco.

The Resort at Southernmost Beach is selling the view, and the wine list knows it — there's no reason to put in effort when the sunset does all the heavy lifting. Key West Winery is a Wild Card because the concept itself is the draw — tropical fruit wines in the Florida Keys is exactly as niche and fun as it sounds, and it earns its badge on novelty alone. We wouldn't send a serious wine drinker here as a primary destination, but if you're already in Old Town and curious about what local winemaking looks like when grapes aren't the star, it's worth a tasting flight. Go in with the right expectations and you'll leave entertained; go in looking for a Côte de Nuits and you'll leave confused.
