Chain wine done right, mostly

The wine list at Bonefish Grill Montgomery reads exactly like you'd expect from a polished national chain — safe, familiar, and unlikely to surprise you. It's not embarrassing, but it's also not doing anything to earn your admiration. Think of it as the wine equivalent of a reliable sedan: gets you where you're going, no drama, no thrills.
The list clocks in at 30–40 labels and leans hard on California, with a few nods to Washington, Oregon, Italy, and beyond. You'll find the usual suspects — Kendall-Jackson, Francis Coppola, Joel Gott — names that show up on every casual chain list in America. There's a smattering of Italian (Santa Margherita, Ecco Domani) and one solid Washington state pick in the Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling, which is honestly the most interesting thing on here. No old world depth, no natural wine curiosity, no emerging regions — this is comfort food for wine drinkers who don't want to think too hard.
With roughly 15–20 by-the-glass options, Bonefish punches above chain average on pour variety — you can actually rotate through a few different styles over dinner without committing to a bottle. Glass pours run $7–$12, which is fair for the category. The rotation doesn't change much, so don't expect any seasonal surprises.
Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling — $9
Washington Riesling from one of the Pacific Northwest's most consistent producers, and it's the smartest thing on the list to drink with Bang Bang Shrimp or grilled fish. At this price it's genuinely good juice, not filler.
Decoy by Duckhorn Cabernet Sauvignon
Most people walk right past this one because Duckhorn's main label gets the glory, but Decoy is a legitimately well-made Napa Cab at a fraction of the flagship price. On a list full of Coppola and Kendall-Jackson, it's the most serious pour in the room.
Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio
A famous name that's been coasting on its reputation for decades. You're paying a premium for brand recognition on a wine that Ecco Domani or even the Chateau Ste. Michelle can outperform at lower cost. It's the tourist trap of the wine list.
La Crema Chardonnay + Chilean Sea Bass
La Crema's Russian River Chardonnay brings enough weight and subtle oak to stand up to the richness of Chilean sea bass without steamrolling the fish. It's a classic California Chardonnay doing exactly what it's supposed to do.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Bonefish Grill Montgomery won't blow your mind, but it won't ruin your dinner either — the glass pour selection is broad enough to find something decent, and Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling with wood-grilled fish is a legitimate move. Just don't expect the wine to be the reason you came.
Hampstead · Montgomery · Casual American bar food and café fare
The Tipping Point is a solid neighborhood spot that happens to have wine, not a wine destination that also serves food — and that's okay. If you're here for the patio, the burgers, or a casual weeknight out, grab the rosé or the Malbec and don't overthink it.

This is a wine program by committee, for volume, not for pleasure. If someone at your table insists on wine, grab a glass while you're waiting to be seated and enjoy the half-price benefit — but don't plan your evening around what's in the glass.

Outback Montgomery's wine program is a formality, not a feature — it checks the box without breaking a sweat or a single new grape variety. If wine matters to you tonight, order the Riesling, keep expectations grounded, and save the serious bottle for a restaurant that actually cares.

Kinsmith is a beautiful room serving interesting food, and the wine list is the least interesting thing about it. Go for the Gulf seafood, order the Calera or the Pinotage, and keep your expectations calibrated to a solid hotel restaurant rather than a destination wine program.
