Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Bonefish Grill Lakeland is exactly what you'd expect from an upscale-casual chain — tidy, approachable, and calibrated for people who want something in a glass rather than on a pedestal. Twenty-six labels isn't deep, but it's enough to navigate without a headache. The social hour pricing is the real hook here, pulling glass pours down to the $6–$9 range and turning the bar into a legitimately decent pre-dinner stop.
The list leans hard on name-recognition brands and plays it safe at every turn — Columbia Crest, Ecco Domani, William Hill, Silver Gate. These aren't bad wines; they're just wines that nobody is surprised by. Australian representation sneaks in via Jacob's Creek Moscato, and Chandon Brut holds down the sparkling category without embarrassing itself. What's missing is any real regional ambition — no domestic small producers, no European exploration beyond the expected — but this is a chain seafood restaurant in South Lakeland, and the list knows its audience.
Fourteen glass pours is a solid count for a 26-bottle list, and the social hour pricing makes several of them genuinely worth ordering. The sangria options — both red and white house signatures — skew the program toward the cocktail-curious crowd more than committed wine drinkers, which tells you something about who Bonefish thinks is sitting at the bar. Rotation appears minimal; this is a set-and-forget program with reliable faces.
Chandon Brut Sparkling — $9
During social hour, Chandon Brut by the glass is a quietly solid deal — it's a recognizable, consistent California sparkler that works well with the seafood-forward menu and won't make you wince at the price.
Silver Gate Pinot Noir
At $28 a bottle, Silver Gate Pinot Noir is easy to overlook amid the bolder options, but it's the right call against the wood-grilled salmon or ahi tuna — light enough not to bulldoze delicate fish, and priced where the damage is manageable.
Ecco Domani Pinot Grigio
At $31 a bottle, you're paying a steep chain premium for a wine that retails around $10–$12 at any grocery store. It's not offensive, it's just not worth it — order the Chandon by the glass and call it a night.
Chandon Brut Sparkling + Bang Bang Shrimp
The creamy, spicy kick of Bang Bang Shrimp needs something with bubbles and enough acidity to cut through the sauce without fighting it — Chandon Brut does exactly that, and at social hour pricing, it's a no-brainer.
The Bottom Line
Bonefish Grill Lakeland won't blow any wine enthusiast's mind, but it's a functional, inoffensive list with a social hour that softens the markup sting enough to make it worthwhile. Come for the Bang Bang Shrimp, grab a glass of Chandon, and set your expectations accordingly.

Scarpa's is doing more with wine than most of Lakeland, and the Italian selections show genuine care. Markups on the prestige bottles get steep fast, but lean toward the house Brunello and the overlooked Italian producers and you'll eat and drink well.

Scarpa's is doing something genuinely unusual for its market — a curated, Italy-forward list with real producers that you'd be happy to find in a major city wine bar. The markups on the top shelf are steep, but the depth of the by-the-glass program and the presence of names like Produttori and Ridge mean there's value hiding in this list if you know where to look.

Red Lobster's wine list does its job in the narrowest possible sense — it gives people something to drink. But there's no value play here, no curiosity, no effort. Order the cocktail or a beer and spend your wine money somewhere that earned it.

Carrabba's isn't where you go to discover wine, but it's where you go to drink something decent without getting ripped off. Send a friend here if they want a familiar Italian night with a glass that makes sense — just steer them toward the Italian side of the list.

Come for the steak, order whatever beer they have on draft, and save the wine conversation for somewhere else. LongHorn isn't pretending to be a wine destination, and at least the prices reflect that — but the list has the ambition of a footnote.

Olive Garden is not a wine destination and never claimed to be — the wine list exists to generate margin, not to inspire. Order the Chianti, enjoy the breadsticks, and save the serious bottle for another night.

Real Seafood Company clearly puts its energy into the kitchen, and the wine list reflects exactly how much attention is left over — which is almost none. Order the Rotari if you want bubbles, or honestly, just get a cocktail and move on.

Votum is operating a world-class wine program in a town most people only stop through on the way to a hike — the depth of this cellar belongs in a major city restaurant, and the sommelier presence means you're not navigating it alone. The markups on the prestige bottles will sting, but find your entry point and this list rewards serious attention.
