Wingman Metrics
Avellino's is a no-frills Decatur neighborhood pizzeria doing exactly what it says on the tin — gas-fired ovens, hearty pies, college-town energy. The wine list, whatever it is, is clearly an afterthought: this is a place where people come for the Rustica and leave talking about the crust, not the Chianti.
We couldn't pin down a verifiable wine list for Avellino's — no menu source with actual bottles, producers, or prices surfaced across three review sources. What we can say is that at a casual pizza counter with entrees topping out around $23, the wine program is almost certainly a short stack of familiar Italian and domestic crowd-pleasers with little depth or curation. There's no evidence of a sommelier, regional focus, or any real investment in the wine side of the operation. If you're hoping for a Barolo to match that Mt. Vesuvius pizza, manage your expectations.
By-the-glass options are unconfirmed, but a spot like this typically pours a small rotation of safe, broadly recognizable bottles. Don't expect a rotating program or anything that required a buying trip to Piedmont.
The Bottom Line
Avellino's earns its stripes as a Decatur pizza institution, but the wine program is a blind spot we can't responsibly rate in detail — the data simply isn't there. Come for the Tutta Guarnita, grab a beer or a soft drink, and save the serious wine drinking for somewhere that cares about the glass as much as the crust.

Kindred is punching above its weight class with a white and sparkling program that most full-service wine bars would envy, all at prices that won't make you wince when the check arrives. The red selection is the weak link, but if you lean white, rosé, or bubbly — and many of us should — this list is worth your attention. Send your friends here and tell them to start with the Vermentino.

La Tavola deserves a real wine list — the food and the room both demand one. Right now, five bottles with no reds and no whites is a disservice to a kitchen that's clearly cooking at a higher level than the wine program suggests. Order the Ca' Del Bosco if you're drinking wine, and hope they overhaul this list before your next visit.

Fork & Vine earns its Wild Card badge by doing something most casual New American spots don't bother with: stocking wines that require a little explanation and trusting their guests to be curious. Markup is fair, the by-the-glass selection is genuinely generous, and the list skews European in ways that reward adventurous drinkers. If you're eating in Decatur and want a glass of something you haven't had before, this is where to go.

Umi is built around Champagne, and if that's your thing, there are genuinely exciting bottles here — from the Billecart-Salmon Rosé to the Salon Cuvée S for when someone at the table is feeling reckless. The markups run steep across the board, and outside of sparkling, the list doesn't have much to say. But if you're celebrating something and want bubbles with your omakase, this is exactly the right room.

Astor Court is a genuinely lovely room for a special-occasion brunch or afternoon tea, and the food menu — Kusshi oysters, truffle-laced celery root soup, that Challah French toast — gives you plenty to work with. But without a transparent wine list, verifiable pricing, or a confirmed wine specialist on the floor, we can't in good conscience send you here specifically for the wine. Order something sparkling, enjoy the room, and let the food do the heavy lifting.

Sotto Sotto is a genuinely Italian wine list in a city that usually settles for Italian-American approximations — the Timorasso, the Lambrusco di Sorbara, the Franciacorta all signal real intent. The glass program is accessible, markups are reasonable, and the bubbles section alone justifies a visit. If you want depth across all of Italy, you'll hit the edges fast at 68 labels, but what's here is well-chosen. Send a friend who likes to drink something they've never heard of.

Gianni & Mac's has a focused, Italian-forward white wine list that punches above its weight in regional authenticity — the Frascati and Etna Bianco alone justify a closer look. The sparkling section is bloated and the markups get steep at the top end, but if you stick to the Italian whites you'll drink well without feeling robbed. Send a friend here for the food and tell them to ask about the Etna Bianco.

Borgo Italia isn't a destination wine list, but it's a thoughtful one for what it is — a cozy neighborhood trattoria in Senoia with an Italian regional focus that respects the food on the plate. If you're here for the Lasagna or Saltimbocca alla Romana, there's likely something on that list to make dinner feel complete. We'd send a friend here for a good meal with an honest glass of wine, no hesitation.

Alpharetta · Alpharetta · Italian
Fiorenza's wine list punches above its weight for an Alpharetta Italian spot — the Italian focus is focused and honest, the by-the-glass program is genuinely broad, and the pricing stays mostly fair. If you're eating here, skip the safe Pinot Grigio and work your way through the more interesting Italian options the list quietly hides in plain sight.
