The wine list at Amerigo reads like a greatest-hits album you've heard a hundred times — familiar faces, nothing that'll surprise you, but nothing that'll embarrass you either. It's a polished, well-maintained list that matches the room: upscale-casual, safe, and reliably crowd-pleasing. For South Huntsville, that's actually doing a lot of heavy lifting.
The list runs about 45–55 labels split between Italy and California, which is exactly what you'd expect from a concept called Amerigo Italian Restaurant. Italian varietals get proper representation — think Pinot Grigio, Prosecco, and the usual suspects — while the domestic side leans on the kind of California brands that sell themselves: Meiomi, Decoy, Josh Cellars. There's no deep dive into Barolo country here, no Sicilian outliers, no natural wine detour — but the list is curated with intention rather than laziness. Gaps exist in the Old World beyond Italy and anything adventurous south of the equator, but the core audience probably isn't looking for a Jura Ploussard.
Sixteen to twenty options by the glass is genuinely generous for this corner of Alabama, spanning sparkling, white, rosé, and red — enough to match any course or mood at the table. The Early Bird menu pulls house wines down to $8 a glass, which is a smart move that rewards the 5:30 crowd. Rotation seems limited, but coverage is solid.
La Marca Prosecco NV — $11/glass
At $11 a glass against a $15 retail bottle, La Marca is priced honestly and punches above its station as a table-starter. It's the most fairly marked wine on the list and a natural fit before a pasta heavy meal.
Decoy Cabernet Sauvignon NV
Most people at a table full of pasta reach for Meiomi out of habit, but Decoy is the smarter red here — structured enough to handle a meat-forward dish without being overbearing, and $14 a glass keeps it from being a commitment.
Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio NV
At $15 a glass, Santa Margherita is still coasting on a reputation it built in the '90s. It's a fine wine, but you're paying for the name on a bottle that retails for $25 — and there are better Italian whites in the world at this price point. Order the Kim Crawford instead and pocket the difference.
Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc NV + Fresh Seafood Entrée
Kim Crawford's bright citrus and herbaceous snap is a natural counterweight to whatever seafood is on the menu — it cuts through buttery preparations and lifts lighter fish dishes without competing. At $12 a glass it's also the table's most sensible move.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Amerigo isn't where you go to geek out on wine — it's where you go to eat good Italian food and drink something that won't let you down. For Huntsville, that makes it a reliable anchor worth keeping in the rotation.

Downtown / Holmes Avenue · Huntsville · Gastropub, American, Brewery
BeeZr isn't a wine destination — it's a craft beer bar that remembered wine drinkers exist — and on those terms, it delivers. The prices are fair, the pours are familiar, and if your crew insists on this spot, you won't be stuck with bad options or bad value.

Rokka's is genuinely fun — come for the cocktails, come for the tacos, come for the vibe. Just don't come for the wine list, because nobody built one here.
