RagingWine reviewed Almost Famous Wine Lounge’s wine list and gave it The Wild Card — RagingWine’s Vibe-Check rating. How RagingWine reviews wine lists →
Wingman Metrics
Ten bottles. All Darcie Kent or the house Almost Famous label. This is not a list that's trying to impress you with range — it's a tight, unapologetic commitment to one Livermore Valley producer and whatever that producer makes. If you're hoping for a Burgundy or a Barossa Shiraz, turn around.
The list is essentially a curated Darcie Kent flight in bottle form: a Blanc de Noir, two Chardonnays at different price points, a Sparkling Grüner Veltliner from both Darcie Kent and the house Almost Famous label, a Pinot Noir, a Cab Franc, a Cabernet Sauvignon, a blend called Firepit Red, and another Cab at the top of the price ladder. Grüner Veltliner in sparkling form — twice — is not something you see at most California wine spots, and that alone signals some personality. The Livermore Valley focus is genuine, not lazy: these are estate wines from a real local winery with specific vineyard designates like DeMayo and Triska. The gap is obvious though: no Rosé, no imported wine, no white outside of Chardonnay and the sparklers — if you want diversity of style, the list will feel narrow.
Glass pour options aren't confirmed by our sources, so we can't say with certainty what's available by the pour versus bottle only. Given the lounge format and ten-bottle list, it would be surprising if nothing was offered by the glass, but we won't guess at prices or pours we haven't seen.
The Bottom Line
Almost Famous is a genuinely local wine lounge with a genuinely short list, and that's not a criticism — it's a commitment. If you live in the Livermore Valley and want to drink local without a lot of fuss, this is your spot. The pricing is honest, the wines are real, and the Cab Franc alone is worth a visit.
· Livermore · Italian
Pasta's Trattoria won't blow any wine nerds away, but it's a genuinely solid neighborhood Italian spot that takes its wine seriously enough to make dinner feel complete. If you're in Pleasanton and want a reliable glass with your risotto, you won't be disappointed.

Range Cafe isn't destination wine drinking, but it's a better list than a bocce club has any business running — just don't come looking for adventure outside the California Cabernet universe. Order the Zin, skip the trophy bottles, and focus on the game.

· Livermore · Cocktail Bar / Small Plates
Le Nocturne is a genuinely fun room with a French menu that deserves a better wine list than what the concept seems to prioritize — the atmosphere earns it Wild Card status because the potential is real, but until the wine program matches the culinary ambition, order a cocktail and come back when they figure it out. If you're going for wine, go informed and go with a bottle.

Rebel Kitchen's wine list doesn't rebel against anything — it's eleven safe bottles with steep markups in a region that's literally surrounded by wineries. Order a cocktail, which is clearly what they actually care about.

Black Cat is a Wild Card in the best way: it's a buzzy cocktail bar that actually thought about its wine program, sits in genuine wine country, and throws in a no-corkage Thursday deal that most full wine bars would never offer. We'd send a friend here — and we'd tell them to bring a bottle from down the road.

Downtown Livermore · Livermore · Greek & Mediterranean
Demitri's isn't a destination wine bar, but it's doing something genuine — pairing Greek imports with award-winning local Livermore producers in a setting that actually makes the wine feel connected to what's on your plate. Send a friend here if they think Livermore is just suburban sprawl; the wine list will surprise them.
