Wingman Metrics
You're on Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs, expecting a tourist trap wine list full of Kendall-Jackson and La Crema — and then the menu lands and it's Ridge, Turley, and Kistler staring back at you. That's a pleasant gut-punch. This place takes Zinfandel seriously enough to put it in the name, and the list backs that up.
The 150-plus bottle list leans hard into California's greatest hits, and it earns that lean — Ridge Vineyards, Turley Wine Cellars, and Seghesio represent three of the best Zinfandel producers in the state, full stop. Cabernet drinkers aren't left out either, with Stag's Leap and Jordan showing up as reliable, crowd-pleasing anchors. France gets its due with Louis Jadot Burgundy rounding out the old-world side, though the French section feels more like a supporting cast than a co-lead. The list won't shock anyone chasing obscure biodynamic imports, but for California and France, it's genuinely well-chosen.
With 20-35 by-the-glass options, this is one of the more generous pours-by-the-glass programs you'll find in the desert. The range gives you real choices across styles rather than just the usual four-bottle shortlist. We'd love to see more rotation and a few more adventurous picks cycling through, but what's here is honest and drinkable.
Jordan Vineyard & Winery Cabernet Sauvignon — $60
Jordan consistently over-delivers at its price point — it's the kind of Cab that makes a table of non-wine-people suddenly very interested in wine. At restaurant pricing in the $60 range, it's one of the fairest calls on this list.
Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling
Nobody ordering a steak in Palm Springs is thinking Riesling, which is exactly why you should. It's crisp, slightly off-dry, and a genuinely refreshing counter-move in the desert heat — and it'll outperform half the Chardonnays on this list for summer drinking.
Louis Jadot Burgundy
Jadot is reliable at retail but at restaurant markup it loses its value story fast. There are better uses of your money right here on this list — California is clearly where Zin's heart and buying power live.
Turley Wine Cellars Zinfandel + Grass Fed Burger
Turley Zin is big, dark-fruited, and just barely wild enough to hold its own against a proper grass-fed burger. The slight gaminess of the beef loves the spice and intensity that Turley brings — this is the pairing the restaurant was basically built around.
🎲 The Bottom Line
Zin American Bistro is the best wine surprise in Palm Springs — a Best of Award of Excellence winner that actually earned it with a California-focused list that hits above its desert-tourist-trap weight class. If you're in town and care even a little about what's in your glass, book the reservation.

SO·PA earns its Wine Spectator nod by treating California wine as a genuine focus rather than an afterthought, and the alfresco setting makes it one of the more memorable places to drink a bottle of Ridge on the West Coast. If you're in Palm Springs and want wine that matches the quality of the food, this is where you go.

Le Vallauris is a genuine Wine Spectator Award of Excellence recipient hiding in plain sight among Palm Springs' poolside cocktail culture — the French list is focused and well-sourced, Farouk Chaabi knows his room, and the setting alone earns the visit. Just go in knowing the markups reflect the fine dining zip code.

Spencer's has held a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence since 2011, and the list earns it — deep California pedigree, credible Bordeaux, and enough Italian ambition to keep things interesting. The markup can sting and there's no sommelier to guide you through it, but if you know what you want, this is one of the better bottles-with-a-steak experiences the desert has to offer.

Rubaiyat has held a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence since 2009, and the list earns it — not by being adventurous, but by being well-chosen, fairly priced, and genuinely cared for in a town where that's not a given. If you're in Decorah and want a proper bottle with dinner, this is your place.

Flour & Thyme earned its Wine Spectator credential, and the Tuesday half-price night makes this one of the better wine value plays in downtown Phoenix. Steer clear of the Caymus, order the Jordan, and let the wood-fired kitchen do the rest.
