Wingman Metrics
Walk in and the list feels intentional — not enormous, but not lazy either. About 75 labels with a clear Pacific Northwest backbone and enough international depth to keep things interesting. For Coeur d'Alene, this is about as serious as wine bars get.
The list leans heavily Pacific Northwest — Washington, Oregon, and Idaho account for roughly three-quarters of the inventory — and that bet largely pays off. Va Piano 'Ox' Cab from Walla Walla and Lingua Franca Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley anchor the domestic side with real credibility. They round it out with smart international picks: Vietti Barbera d'Asti for Italy, Piattelli Trinitá Malbec from Uco Valley for Argentina, and a Domaine Dominique Janine Crochet Sancerre flying the Loire flag. The gaps are real — not much in the way of Burgundy, Rhône, or Germany — but the hits land where they count.
Somewhere between 12 and 18 pours on any given night, which is a generous spread for a neighborhood spot this size. Glass prices run roughly $10–$16, which feels honest given the quality level. Rotation isn't aggressive — don't expect a dramatically different list next month — but what's there is well chosen.
Vietti Barbera d'Asti — ~$50–$60/bottle
Vietti is a serious Piedmontese producer, and Barbera d'Asti is chronically underpriced relative to how good it drinks. Bright acidity, dark fruit, zero pretension — and at these price points, you're getting something that punches well above its cost.
Domaine Dominique Janine Crochet Sancerre, Loire, France, 2022
Most people in a Pacific Northwest wine bar are scanning for Pinot or Cab. They sleep on the Sancerre. This is classic Loire Sauvignon Blanc from a producer that earns its place on any serious list — textbook minerality, crisp citrus, and the kind of tension that makes you order another glass before you finish the first.
Lingua Franca Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon, 2021
Lingua Franca is a legitimately great producer and this wine is genuinely good — but it's also one of the most recognizable names on the list, which means the markup reflects the label recognition. You're paying for the brand as much as the juice. The Vietti or the Crochet Sancerre will outperform it dollar for dollar.
Albariño, Rías Baixas, Spain, 2022 + Seared scallops
Albariño and seared scallops is not a revolutionary pairing, but it's a classic for a reason — the wine's saline edge and citrus brightness cut through the sweetness of the scallop without stomping on it. Order both and don't second-guess yourself.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Vine & Olive isn't trying to be a destination wine list, but it's the kind of place you'd confidently bring a wine-curious friend knowing they won't be let down. For the Inland Northwest, that's worth something.
Lake Coeur d'Alene · Coeur d'Alene · Lounge
Cedar's earns its Wild Card badge not because the list is revolutionary, but because a 120-label program with local Idaho pours and a sommelier on staff is the last thing you expect from a tourist-magnet floating lounge. Send your friends here, point them toward the Coeur d'Alene Cellars glass pours, and let the lake do the rest of the work.

Vine & Olive is doing something genuinely interesting for its market — a thoughtful, fairly priced list in a city that doesn't always demand one. If you're passing through Coeur d'Alene and care about what's in your glass, this is your stop.
