Wingman Metrics
Thirteen labels isn't a wine list that's going to make a sommelier's heart race, but at a Neapolitan pizza spot, that's not really the point. What's notable is that the list actually tries — there's an Aglianico and a Falanghina sitting alongside the Chianti, and that tells you someone gave this more than five minutes of thought. It's compact, purposeful, and priced like they actually want you to order a bottle.
The Italian backbone here is real. You've got a Barbera, Chianti, Aglianico, and the Tolaini Al Passo Super Tuscan anchoring the reds — a lineup that tracks well with wood-fired Neapolitan cooking. The Brunello di Montalcino at $100 is a legitimately serious bottle for a pizza restaurant, and its presence signals genuine ambition. On the white side, the Falanghina is the standout — a Southern Italian grape that almost no casual pizza joint bothers to stock. The Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay are obligatory crowd-pleasers, but they don't drag the list down given how fairly they're priced.
Ten of thirteen bottles are available by the glass, which is a generous pour program for a list this size. Entry-level pours — Montepulciano, Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay — run $8/glass, and the ceiling tops out at $12 for Prosecco and Prosecco Rosé. The Falanghina and Chianti hit the middle at $10/glass, making it easy to drink something interesting without committing to a bottle.
The Bottom Line
Varuni Napoli's wine list is small but it's doing real work — Italian-leaning, fairly priced, and stocked with at least two bottles (the Aglianico and Falanghina) that prove somebody cared. It earns the Wild Card badge because finding a Brunello and an Aglianico at a neighborhood pizza spot is genuinely surprising. Come for the pizza, stay for a glass of something you wouldn't expect.
Atlanta · Atlanta · Vegan Soul Food
Bar Vegan isn't a wine destination — it's a vegan soul food bar with a short, functional list that serves the room. Some markups are hard to justify, and the list won't impress anyone who came in looking for something interesting. But the Black Girl Magic Red Blend and the J. Lohr bottle price show there's a little thought behind the selections. Come for the food and the vibe; the wine is just along for the ride.

Ponce City Market · Atlanta · Mexican
Minero isn't a wine destination — it's a taco and mezcal destination that happens to have a wine list worth a second look. The regional lineup suggests someone with actual taste curated this, which is more than you can say for most fast-casual Mexican spots. If you're here and not drinking mezcal, ask what's cold and crisp from Vinho Verde or Friuli country — your Fried Catfish Taco will thank you.

Clarks runs a leaner-than-average wine list for a steakhouse, but the curation punches above its size — the presence of the Normand Aligoté, the Juillot Pinot Noir, and the Pallières Grenache on the same list as Faust and Stag's Leap tells you the buyer has range. The full-list by-the-glass program at mostly fair markups makes this worth exploring beyond the obvious Cabernet order. If you're eating steak in Atlanta and want something more interesting than your usual Napa pour, this list rewards curiosity.

Buckhead · Atlanta · Wine Bar
Vine & Tap earns its Wild Card badge by doing something rare in Buckhead: pointing the list toward places most wine bars won't bother with, like Lebanon and Friuli, and keeping entree prices under $20 so the wine spend can actually shine. If you're in the neighborhood on a Wednesday, the half-price flight situation makes this an easy yes — show up, explore something you've never heard of, eat some octopus, and leave having learned something.

Apres Diem earns its Reliable badge on atmosphere and regional intent alone — a Euro-leaning, food-friendly wine program in a room built for exactly that kind of drinking. We need more sourced detail on specific bottles and pricing before we can point you to the right pour, but the directional story here is good. If you're catching a film next door and want something thoughtful in the glass without a lot of ceremony, this is a safe and genuinely pleasant bet. Go, order the French onion soup, and ask what's open.

Brassica might be hiding a thoughtful, Spain-forward wine program behind that Waldorf lobby — but we can't confirm it, and hotel dining rooms rarely earn the benefit of the doubt on pricing. If you're eating here for the butter-poached lobster or the rack of venison, go for it. Just keep your wine expectations measured until someone puts the actual list online.

Pupatella isn't trying to be a destination wine program, and it doesn't need to be — it's a pizza place with a focused, fairly priced, Italian-centric list that actually makes sense with the food. Send a friend here for the pizza and tell them to order the Lambrusco.

Cugino Forno isn't trying to be a wine destination, and the five-bottle list makes that abundantly clear. The prices are fair enough that you won't feel ripped off, but if wine matters to you on a night out, this is a BYOB situation — check their corkage policy.

Cane Rosso Frisco isn't a wine destination, but the Tuesday and Wednesday half-price program turns a grocery-store-safe list into a genuinely compelling reason to show up mid-week. Come for the pizza, come back on a Tuesday, and don't overthink the wine.
