Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Tsunami reads exactly like you'd expect from a lively rooftop sushi spot above the Mississippi — it's not trying to impress wine nerds, it's trying to keep a full dining room happy. Twenty-seven labels, lots of California hits, and a decent by-the-glass spread that covers the basics without breaking new ground.
California dominates the conversation here: Caymus, The Prisoner, Sonoma Cutrer, Frank Family — it's the greatest hits of every mid-range American wine list, executed faithfully. Italy gets a nod with the Livio Felluga Pinot Grigio, and there's a Taittinger for anyone who wants to pop bubbles over a tuna roll. The gaps are real — no serious Oregon Pinot, no Burgundy, no natural wines — but this list isn't pretending to be something it's not. It's a crowd-pleasing lineup built for a crowd that wants recognizable labels with their omakase.
Fifteen by-the-glass options is a generous pour count for a restaurant this size, and the spread covers whites, reds, and at least one sparkling option. The $9–$17 range is reasonable for the glass program, though you're not going to stumble onto anything unexpected — what's on that list is exactly what you'd guess. Rotation doesn't appear to be a priority, but the volume of options means you're unlikely to be stuck.
Vilarnau Cava Brut Reserva — $35
At the bottom of the bottle price range, this Spanish Cava punches well above its ask. Crisp, toasty, and built for raw fish — it's the smartest pour on the list and most people walk right past it for the Taittinger.
Livio Felluga Pinot Grigio
Most diners ordering Pinot Grigio here are grabbing whatever's cheapest, but Livio Felluga is a serious Friuli producer — this is the real deal, not a supermarket brand in disguise. It's a cut above what this list usually signals.
Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon
Caymus retails around $80–$90. At $185, you're paying more than double for a bottle that's genuinely delicious but wildly overpriced in this context. Save it for a steakhouse that at least pretends to justify the markup.
Peju Sauvignon Blanc + Tuna Tataki
The bright acidity and citrus-forward profile of the Peju Sauvignon Blanc cuts right through the seared, slightly fatty tuna and any ponzu or citrus sauce on the Tataki. Clean, fast, and it makes both the wine and the dish taste better.
Wednesday — 25% off all bottles of wine and sake on Wednesdays, 4–10 p.m. Also: $5 house wines on Tuesdays 4–10 p.m., Wednesdays 4–6 p.m., and Thursdays & Fridays 3–6 p.m.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Tsunami's wine list is built for the room, not the wine drinker — and honestly, that's fine. Show up on a Wednesday for the 25% bottle discount, grab the Cava or the Peju Sauv Blanc, and enjoy the view. Just leave the Caymus for someone else.
Jefferson / Airline · Baton Rouge · Barbecue and Seafood
BRQ is a solid neighborhood restaurant with a wine list that knows its audience — approachable, inoffensive, and honestly fine for what it is. Hit it on a Wednesday, grab the seasonal rosé or a bottle of The Prisoner at half price, and you'll leave happy.

Downtown Baton Rouge · Baton Rouge · Italian
The Little Village isn't your wine destination, but Tuesday happy hour from 5–7 PM flips this into a genuinely good deal — half-price bottles on a $40–$140 list changes the math entirely. Come for the veal, order early, and let Tuesday do the heavy lifting.

The Little Village Airline is not a destination for wine — it's a destination for lasagna, and the wine list knows it. Come on a Wednesday, order a bottle of La Crema at half price, and you'll leave happy enough.

Mid City / Perkins Road Overpass · Baton Rouge · Cajun and Creole Seafood
Parrain's is a legitimately great seafood spot that simply doesn't care about wine, and the list proves it. Order the étouffée, have a beer or a cocktail, and save your wine enthusiasm for somewhere that's earned it.

South Baton Rouge / Airline Highway · Baton Rouge · Cajun and Creole Seafood
Don's Seafood is a Baton Rouge institution for a reason — the crawfish étouffée earns its reputation and the charbroiled oysters are worth the drive. The wine list, however, is pure afterthought: grocery store brands at gouge-tier markups with zero program investment. Order the Abita, order a cocktail, order anything but the wine.

South Baton Rouge / Perkins Rowe · Baton Rouge · Contemporary Southern, Louisiana Comfort Food, Creole/Cajun
SoLou isn't a wine destination, but it's a genuinely reliable place to drink well alongside some of the best Southern comfort food in Baton Rouge. The draft wine program and smart glass selection make it easy to order confidently — and that's more than most spots in this city offer.

Central Plano · Plano · Sushi
Sushi Sakana's wine list won't win any awards, but Wednesday's half-price bottle deal turns a steep, safe list into a legitimate reason to plan your week around dinner here. Come in knowing what you want and skip the Sonoma-Cutrer.

Aya Sushi isn't a destination wine list, but it's a well-run, competently stocked program with a real sommelier and fair pricing on good California bottles. Send a friend who wants a reliable glass of Cakebread with their omakase — they won't be disappointed.

Sudachi is a sake bar with a wine list that punches above its weight on pricing — and in Jackson Hole, fair markups qualify as a minor miracle. Come for the nigiri and the Riesling, skip the Meiomi.
