Pacific Northwest Pours in a Tea Shop

A tea shop with a wine list isn't something you expect to find in Spokane Valley, and yet here we are. The list is compact and leans hard into Pacific Northwest producers, which honestly makes more sense the longer you sit with it. This is a place with a point of view — it just happens to also serve Earl Grey.
The list is small — we're talking 10-20 bottles — but it punches above its weight by staying regional and staying intentional. Ste. Michelle Wine Estates anchors the program with labels pulling from Columbia Valley, Horse Heaven Hills, Walla Walla, and even Willamette Valley and Chehalem Mountains over in Oregon. That's a surprisingly thoughtful geographic sweep for a spot that also sells loose-leaf tea. The gaps are real — don't come here looking for Burgundy or anything Old World — but if you want a curated tour of Pacific Northwest viticulture at accessible prices, Torra delivers.
At least three by-the-glass options are available, with pours landing in the $9–$12 range. That's fair money for Spokane, and the Domaine Ste. Michelle Brut by the glass at $9 is legitimately one of the better deals you'll find poured anywhere in the area. Rotation appears limited — this isn't a list that changes weekly — but what's there is chosen with care.
Domaine Ste. Michelle Brut Columbia Valley — $9/glass
Retail on this bottle runs around $15, so getting it by the glass at $9 is essentially stealing. It's a clean, food-friendly sparkler and the markup is almost embarrassingly fair.
Ste. Michelle Wine Estates Chehalem Mountains Selection
Most people default to the Columbia Valley labels they recognize, but the Chehalem Mountains pour is where things get interesting — Oregon's cooler AVA adds tension and freshness that the bigger Washington bottlings don't always have. Worth asking about specifically.
Ste. Michelle Wine Estates Walla Walla Selection
Walla Walla carries a premium reputation and the price point here reflects that, but within this particular list you're getting more character per dollar from other pours. Save the Walla Walla splurge for a restaurant that's built the program around it.
Domaine Ste. Michelle Brut Columbia Valley + European-style small bites
Bubbles and salty, savory bites are a universal truth. The Brut's crisp acidity cuts through rich or fatty snacks and keeps the palate ready for the next round — exactly what you want when you're grazing through a small-plates menu.
🎲 The Bottom Line
Torra is a genuine wild card — a tea and spirits concept that somehow assembled a focused, fairly priced Pacific Northwest wine list worth paying attention to. If you're in Spokane Valley and want honest pours from producers who actually care about this region, this quirky little spot earns a detour.

West Downtown / Riverside · Spokane · Barbecue / American Tavern
The Blackbird is a genuinely good barbecue tavern that simply doesn't care about wine, and the steep markups on uninspired bottles make that indifference expensive. Come for the smoked meats and a cold beer — if you insist on wine, grab the Milbrandt and move on.

Downtown Spokane · Spokane · Fondue / Upscale Casual
The Melting Pot Spokane isn't a wine destination, and it's not trying to be — but the Washington State anchors on this list are genuinely good, and if you stick to those, you'll drink well enough for the occasion. Come for the fondue experience, order the Ste. Michelle, and save the serious wine night for somewhere else.

Downtown Spokane · Spokane · Hotel cocktail bar and lounge with small plates
1919 won't blow any minds, but for a hotel bar in downtown Spokane it earns genuine respect for keeping Washington State producers front and center. Come for the room, stay for the Beresan — just don't expect any surprises in the pricing.

Downtown Spokane · Spokane · Hotel Rooftop/Terrace Bar
The Grand Terrace Bar is a great place to drink wine in Spokane — just not necessarily great wine. Come for the skyline, order the Riesling, and save the serious bottle hunting for elsewhere.

Barrister is a genuine Wild Card: a serious urban winery tucked into Spokane's rail district that most wine travelers blow past on their way to Walla Walla. If you're in eastern Washington and you haven't stopped here, you owe yourself a visit.

Reverence is a reliable wine program in a room that clearly cares — Wine Spectator's stamp is warranted, even if the list plays it conservative and the markups can sting at the top end. Send a friend here for a nice dinner; just steer them toward the mid-range bottles.

Fireside Dining is a genuinely unique experience — the room, the format, the fires — and the wine list is good enough to not get in the way of it. Just don't expect the list to match the drama of the dining room; it's a reliable companion, not the star of the show.

Rosie Cannonball is punching well above its bistro weight class — the Wine Spectator nod since 2020 is deserved, and the Beaujolais and natural Italian depth make it the kind of list that rewards the curious. Send your friends here and tell them to skip the Cab.
