The Tack Room's wine list reads exactly how you'd expect a hotel steakhouse in Laredo to read: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Sauvignon, and more Cabernet Sauvignon. There's nothing surprising here, but there's also nothing embarrassing — this list knows what it is and mostly delivers.
Twenty-nine labels, and at least a third of them are Cabs from California — Silver Oak, Caymus, Cakebread, Duckhorn, Inglenook, Ghost Pine. It's a Greatest Hits package with heavy West Coast bias and very little adventurous thinking. The international presence is thin but not nothing: Anciano Tempranillo from Spain, two Argentine Malbecs from Kaiken and Zuccardi, and an Abadia Retuerta that hints at someone knowing something about old-world reds. Louis Jadot Beaujolais Villages is the only French option in sight, which feels like it wandered in from a different list entirely.
Ten pours by the glass at $8–$11.25 is reasonable pricing for a hotel restaurant in South Texas. The range skews predictable — expect the usual suspects like Menage a Trois and Decoy — but you're not going to get gouged on a glass the way you might on a bottle. No obvious rotation or discovery program here; what's on the list is what you'll find.
Anciano 5 Year Tempranillo — $36
In a list dominated by California names, this Spanish Tempranillo stands out as the quiet overachiever. At $36, it's priced honestly for what it delivers — earthy, structured, and actually interesting next to a well-marbled steak.
Abadia Retuerta
Tucked into a list that doesn't really deserve it, Abadia Retuerta is a serious Spanish producer making Tempranillo and Cabernet blends from the Sardon del Duero. Most tables here will walk right past it for Caymus — which is their loss.
Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon
At $225 a bottle, you're paying a significant premium for a wine that's available at most grocery stores and Costco. It's crowd-pleasing, sure, but the markup here makes it a bad deal when bottles like Inglenook or Starmont give you a better ratio of quality to cost.
Zuccardi Malbec + Ribeye
Zuccardi is one of Argentina's most respected producers, and their Malbec brings enough dark fruit and structure to stand up to a fat, seared ribeye without getting buried by it. At $54, it's one of the more honest price points on the list.
The Bottom Line
The Tack Room isn't trying to be a wine destination, and it succeeds at being exactly what it is — a dependable hotel steakhouse list with some solid bottles hiding among the Cab parade. Order the Spanish or Argentine options, avoid the trophy-bottle markups, and you'll eat and drink just fine.

The wine list at Cantina Laredo Laredo is functional, priced fairly for a casual chain, and completely devoid of ambition — but honestly, you're probably here for the guacamole and a frozen margarita anyway. If you do order wine, grab the Marqués de Cáceres Rosé and call it a night.
