Wingman Metrics
The wine list at The Southern Porch is short, sweet, and completely unpretentious — 20 bottles that mirror the restaurant's farm-supper energy. Nothing here is going to make a wine nerd's heart race, but the prices are honest and the range covers the basics without embarrassing anyone. It's the wine list equivalent of a clean porch swing: nothing fancy, but it does the job.
All 20 bottles are available by the glass, which is a genuinely useful setup for a casual, mix-and-match crowd. The list skews heavily toward accessible American and Spanish producers — Trinity Oaks and Lagaria for Pinot Grigio drinkers, Hayes Ranch and Louis Martini holding down the Cabernet end. There's a small bubbles section with Proa Cava Brut and Mistinguett Cava Rosé that punches above its price point, and the red side covers Merlot, Malbec, Zinfandel, and a red blend with no meaningful depth but decent breadth. What's missing: anything remotely old-world beyond a couple of Spanish Cavas, zero Rhône, zero Burgundy, no natty wine in sight.
Every bottle on the list is available by the glass, ranging from $6 to $9 — which is genuinely refreshing when so many casual spots charge $14 for something that retails for $10. The pour program isn't rotating or curated, but at these prices, ordering around the list is low-risk and low-stakes. Twenty glass options in a room this size is more than enough.
Proa Cava Brut — $6/glass, $22/bottle
Spanish Cava at $22 a bottle is already a reasonable deal; $6 a glass for bubbles at a Southern comfort spot is the kind of thing you don't overthink. Order it on arrival and let the fried green tomatoes catch up.
Shelton Riesling
Riesling is the most skipped wine on any casual list, which means it's almost always the most interesting pour in the room. At $8 a glass, it's a smarter choice than defaulting to another anonymous Chardonnay.
Mountain View White Zinfandel
White Zin in 2024 is a hard ask. At $6 a glass it won't break the bank, but there are better ways to spend that money — literally anything else on this list.
Haraszthy Zinfandel + Pecan Fried Chicken Sandwich
Zinfandel's jammy fruit and peppery backbone can stand up to the richness of fried chicken and the sweetness of pecans without getting steamrolled. It's a natural fit for the South-meets-California energy on both sides of the equation.
The Bottom Line
The Southern Porch isn't a destination wine list, but it doesn't pretend to be — and that honesty is worth something. Fair prices, full glass availability, and a room that makes you want to linger are a reasonable trade for a short, crowd-pleasing selection. Send a friend here if they want a glass of something easy with their pimento cheese; send a wine-obsessed friend somewhere else.
Alpharetta · Roswell · Steakhouse/Seafood
Ray's at Killer Creek is a reliable steakhouse wine program — not exciting, probably priced to favor the house, but functional and well-matched to the room it's serving. The Tuesday half-price wine night is the real move here: a polished steakhouse atmosphere with a Napa Cab at half the markup is a solid Tuesday in anyone's book. Go for the filet, drink on a Tuesday, and don't expect the list to surprise you.

The Mill Kitchen & Bar earns its Wild Card badge by doing something genuinely unexpected: running an Enomatic wine system with a structured flight program out of a Southern restaurant in the suburbs. The list is small and the markups are real, but the storage is handled right and the flight concept gives curious drinkers a low-commitment way to explore. If you're in Roswell and want more than a generic house pour, this is worth a detour — just budget accordingly.

Cork Haus Roswell is a genuine surprise in the suburban Atlanta wine landscape — a small, focused bottle shop with a buying philosophy that favors interesting over obvious. The natural wine and pét-nat selection alone makes it worth a detour. If you live anywhere near Roswell and you're tired of the same Napa Cab at every restaurant in town, this is your spot.

· Roswell · Steakhouse
Little Alley Steak has built a genuinely impressive Champagne program — uncommon for a suburban steakhouse — and the depth from Collet up through Cristal gives serious wine drinkers something to work with. The markups are real and the still wine program doesn't match the ambition of the sparkling section, but if you're here to pop bottles with a ribeye, there are worse places to do it. Order the Crémant, save your money, and let someone else pay for the Veuve.

· Roswell · Spanish/Wine Bar
Barcelona Wine Bar is doing something genuinely unusual for Roswell: running a 47-bottle all-by-the-glass program with real range, fair markups, and a clear Spanish identity that doesn't calcify into predictability. We don't have visibility into food menu specifics or service consistency, but on the wine list alone, this earns a visit. Come thirsty and order something you've never heard of.

· Roswell · Spanish/Tapas
Bulla Roswell punches above its weight on Spanish wine selection and keeps pricing honest across a surprisingly deep by-the-glass program. If you're anywhere near Roswell and want a real Rioja with your tapas without paying downtown Atlanta markups, this list earns a genuine recommendation — just stick to the Spanish bottles and don't let anyone talk you into the Belle Glos.
