Cottage vibes, global pours, Tuesday steals

Wingman Metrics
Walking into a 1920s Northshore cottage and finding Txakolina rosé and Côtes de Toul on the list is not what you expect — and that's exactly the point. The Rosecomb isn't trying to be a wine bar, but someone here clearly has taste. The list is compact, a little quirky, and more interesting than the neighborhood-pub aesthetic suggests.
At 20-35 bottles, this isn't a deep list, but the range punches above its weight. California and the Pacific Northwest anchor things predictably enough, but the real action is in the outliers — a País from Maule Valley in Chile, an Auxerrois from the obscure Côtes de Toul in Lorraine, and a Basque Txakolina rosé that most restaurants in Chattanooga wouldn't dare stock. France gets a solid nod through Domaine Migot, and the Italian showing via the Poggio Anima Nero d'Avola adds another layer. The gaps are real — no serious Burgundy, no depth in Rhône or Bordeaux — but for a bar built around burgers and Southern food, the curation is genuinely surprising.
Expect 6-10 pours running $9-$13 a glass, which is reasonable for Chattanooga. We don't have the full by-the-glass breakdown, but if they're pulling from the same list, there's a decent shot you can get something more interesting than a standard Cab or Pinot. The Tuesday half-price bottle deal makes glass pours feel almost beside the point if you're coming with a friend.
Broadbent Vinho Verde NV — $32
Yes, the markup is technically steep relative to retail, but at $32 on the table you're getting a crisp, food-friendly, crowd-pleasing pour that works with almost anything on the menu. On a Tuesday? It's $16. That's a no-brainer.
Domaine Migot Côtes de Toul Auxerrois
Most people will skip right past this because they've never heard of Côtes de Toul or Auxerrois — a white grape from Lorraine that almost nobody outside of France pours. It's a genuinely rare find at a bar in Tennessee, and if you're curious about Old World whites that don't taste like anything else on the list, this is your move.
Ameztoi 'Rubentis' Txakolina Rosé
We love that it's on the list — it's a legitimately great wine — but at $68 a bottle against a $26 retail price, you're paying a 160%+ markup for the novelty factor. Great wine, tough price. Save it for Tuesday or skip it entirely.
J. Bouchon 'Pais Viejo' País Maule Valley + The Burger
País is a rustic, low-tannin red with enough acid and earthy character to cut through a juicy burger without overwhelming it. It's unpretentious, food-friendly, and a little unexpected — which tracks perfectly with The Rosecomb's whole deal.
Tuesday — Half off all bottles of wine on Tuesdays, applied to the full bottle list during regular service.
🎲 The Bottom Line
The Rosecomb isn't a wine destination, but it's a genuinely good wine surprise — especially on a Tuesday when the whole bottle list goes half-price. Come for the burger, stay for the País.
Ringgold (Greater Chattanooga Area) · Chattanooga · Southern Coastal (Seafood, Steaks, Southern Sides)
1885 Grill Ringgold won't change how you think about wine, but it won't embarrass you in front of your dinner date either. It's the reliable neighborhood option in a part of Greater Chattanooga where that actually counts for something.

Ooltewah · Chattanooga · Southern Coastal (Seafood, Steaks, Southern Sides)
1885 Grill is a solid neighborhood spot where the wine list does its job without doing much more. The selection is approachable, the BTG count is surprisingly high, but watch the markups on the low end — some of those glass pours are doing a lot of work for the house.

St. Elmo · Chattanooga · Southern and Coastal
1885 Grill St. Elmo isn't a wine destination, but it doesn't need to be — it's a reliable neighborhood spot with fair prices, a comfortable patio, and a list that won't embarrass anyone. Send a friend here for dinner and tell them to order the Trapiche; don't send them here to geek out on wine.

Northshore · Chattanooga · Portuguese and Mediterranean
Bela Lisboa is the most interesting wine list you'll find attached to a cozy neighborhood bistro in Chattanooga — the Portuguese focus is real and it works with the food. The markups are too aggressive on several bottles, but the soul of the program is there, and that's not nothing.

Lookout Valley · Chattanooga · Winery
DeBarge is the Wild Card Chattanooga deserves — a real working winery in the city's backyard, making honest wine at honest prices, staffed by people who actually care what's in the glass. If you want a Napa blockbuster, go somewhere else; if you want to drink something made twenty minutes from where you're sitting, this is your stop.

Paloma is a genuine surprise for Chattanooga — a rooftop bar that actually committed to an Iberian wine program instead of defaulting to a lazy domestic list. It's not a deep cellar, but it's exactly the right list for the room.
