Wingman Metrics
You're sitting on a vineyard patio with views over estate rows and manicured gardens, and the wine list lands in your hands — it's all Ponte, all the time. That's not a complaint exactly, but if you came hoping to explore beyond Temecula Valley, you're going to be disappointed before the bread arrives. What they do offer, though, is honest estate wine at margins that won't make you wince.
The list runs 50-80 bottles deep, which sounds respectable until you realize every single label is a Ponte house wine. The range does show some ambition — they're working with Italian varieties like Vermentino, Vernaccia Nera, Arneis, Sangiovese, and Montepulciano alongside a Super Tuscan-style blend called Super T and a crowd-pleasing proprietary red called Angry Wife. The Doppietta and Super T show that someone in the cellar has range, but the list never ventures outside the estate gates, leaving zero room for comparison or discovery. If you're already a Ponte fan, this is your paradise; if you're not yet, this list alone won't convert you.
With 15-25 pours available by the glass, there's genuinely solid access to the range here — you can work through whites like the Pinot Grigio and Arneis, hit the rosé Spumante, and still have room for reds before dessert. The Bubbly Moscato NV by the glass is a crowd-pleaser that makes sense for the setting. What's missing is any rotation of guest producers or anything off-menu that would signal a living, evolving glass program.
Ponte Winery Beverino NV — $42
At a 31% restaurant markup over its $32 retail price, this is the most fairly priced bottle on the list — and the friendliest entry point into the red lineup for a breezy vineyard lunch.
Ponte Winery Vernaccia Nera 2024
Most tables will cruise right past this and order the Cab — don't. Vernaccia Nera is a rare southern Italian red grape that almost nobody grows in California, and seeing it here from a 2024 vintage makes it worth the risk. It's genuinely interesting in a list that otherwise plays it safe.
Ponte Winery Chardonnay 2021
Highest markup percentage on the list at 47% over retail, which is steep for a $30 bottle being sold at $44. For a California Chardonnay from a winery you're literally sitting inside, that's a hard ask — especially when better value whites are available right next to it.
Ponte Winery Super T 2019 + All-natural hormone-free beef entree
Super T is Ponte's Super Tuscan-style blend — Sangiovese-forward with the structure to cut through a well-sourced red meat dish. The Italian grape framework and the farm-to-table sourcing ethos at the kitchen level actually make this one of the more coherent wine-and-plate combinations on the menu.
✔️ The Bottom Line
If you've made the drive out to Temecula and you're already at Ponte, lean in — the pricing is honest, the patio is gorgeous, and the Italian-varietal side of the list is more interesting than it gets credit for. Just don't expect anything beyond the estate walls.
South Temecula / Pechanga Resort Area · Temecula · Fine Dining Steakhouse
Great Oak is a reliable, well-run resort steakhouse wine program — the sommelier presence and proper storage elevate it above the casino norm, but steep markups and a brand-name-heavy list keep it from being anything more than a very comfortable choice. Send a friend here if they want a guaranteed-good bottle of California Cab with a great steak; steer them elsewhere if they're looking for discovery.

Avensole's restaurant is a committed estate-only experience, and if you go in knowing that, it delivers — fair pricing, a smart flight format, and some genuinely interesting bottles you won't find anywhere else. Just don't show up hoping for a diverse wine list; this is a one-winery show, and you're either in or you're not.

If you're spending a day in Temecula wine country, Mama's Kitchen gives you a legit reason to sit down, eat something real, and drink through the estate range without getting gouged. It's not a destination wine list in the traditional sense, but the fair pricing and the genuine curiosity shown in the grape selection make it well worth the stop.

Café Champagne is a lovely place to drink Temecula wine if you're already in Temecula — the sparkling program is the real draw and the estate-only format at least has a clear point of view. Just don't show up expecting a deep, exploratory list; this is winery dining, not a wine destination in the broader sense.

Vindemia is a Wild Card in the truest sense: a tiny estate list, fair glass prices, a hillside setting, and a Wednesday deal that should be on more people's calendars. Show up on a weekday, order the Zinfandel Riserva, and let the food truck handle the rest.

Danza del Sol isn't trying to be a destination wine list — it's a winery that pours its own stuff on a dog-friendly patio, and in that context it mostly delivers. If you're already in Temecula wine country and you want somewhere to land for an hour with a board and a glass of local Tempranillo, this is a solid call.
