Wingman Metrics
Walk into The Palm expecting a wall of Napa Cab and Argentine Malbec, and this list will genuinely stop you mid-scroll. Six bottles, sure — but six bottles that read like a natural wine bar curator snuck into a legacy steakhouse and rewrote the whole thing. We were not expecting this.
The list is tiny by any measure — just six labels — but the editorial point of view is sharp and coherent in a way that most 60-bottle lists never manage. You've got Loire Valley representation from both Lucien Crochet and Puzelat Bonhomme, a Minervois from Clos du Gravillas that earns its place, and a Ferrando Canavese Rosso from Piedmont that you will almost never see on a Houston steakhouse menu. Ruth Lewandowski's Feints, a California natural wine that flies well under the mainstream radar, rounds out the mid-tier alongside a Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Domaine Bois de Boursan anchoring the top end. The regional spread — Loire, Languedoc, Piedmont, California, Southern Rhône — is legitimately eclectic for six wines. The glaring gap is anything white beyond the Sancerre, and zero options under $23 by the bottle.
We have no documented by-the-glass program for this location. Given the list size and the bottle-only pricing we observed, it's possible pours are available but unconfirmed — ask your server before assuming. If they're not pouring by the glass, splitting a bottle is the obvious move here.
The Bottom Line
Six bottles shouldn't work this well, but The Palm Houston's list reads like someone with actual taste had five minutes and zero budget to fix the wine program — and somehow nailed it. We can't speak to service knowledge or storage conditions with confidence, but the value here, especially that Lucien Crochet at $23, is hard to argue with. If you're eating at The Palm anyway, ignore every instinct to order something familiar and trust the list.

· Houston · Seafood Steakhouse
Truluck's Houston wines by the glass read like an afterthought appended to what is probably a serious seafood and steak menu. Eight safe, mid-tier California and Spanish pours at steep per-glass pricing is not a wine program — it's a placeholder. If wine matters to your evening, manage expectations or ask what's available on a full bottle list that wasn't captured here.

West Ave · Houston · Upscale American Seafood and Steakhouse
Eddie V's is a reliable choice if someone else is picking up the tab and you want a well-maintained list with competent staff to guide you through it. For a self-funded wine night, the likely markups at this price point mean you're paying for the room as much as the bottle — which is fine, as long as you know that going in.

Montrose · Houston · Mediterranean
A very large list organized as Boundaries and Frontiers, with a short glass page that includes Champagne, Portuguese wines, port and madeira. Order the $15/glass Gota Branco, or ask about the Luis Seabra Douro red at 90 (unit not posted) from the Portugal pages, and confirm current availability. This unrated guide covers the posted wine list, not service, storage or markups.
Montrose · Houston · European
A Montrose restaurant with a color-and-country wine list, a separate Rosé & Orange page, and an 18-wine glass list on the dinner menu. Try the Foillard Beaujolais-Villages at 86 (unit not posted) or the Campuget rosé at 14|52 from the glass list, and check the half-off wine windows on the menu. This unrated guide covers the posted wine list, not service, storage or markups.
Downtown · Houston · American Bar
A short, tidy wine list at a bourbon bar, with a bottle price printed next to every glass. Order the Jermann Pinot Grigio at $16 a glass if you want white, or the Altocedro Malbec at $15 if you want red, and confirm prices because the page isn't dated. This unrated guide covers the posted wine list, not service, storage or markups.
Montrose · Houston · Seafood
Little's posts 27 wines by the glass from $15 to $75 and a Champagne & Wine book that opens with four pages of Champagne and tops out at $9,995. Start with the $34 glass of Hugues Godmé Champagne or the $24 Vocoret Chablis with the oysters, and confirm what is pouring since neither list prints a date. This unrated guide covers the posted drinks lists, not service, storage or markups.
· Franklin · Steakhouse
Perry's Franklin is a reliable steakhouse wine list — fair pricing, a genuinely large by-the-glass selection, and a few smart picks scattered among the safe choices. It's not going to excite a serious wine drinker, but it's not going to embarrass one either. Send your friend here knowing they'll drink well without getting gouged.

Perry's is a reliable steakhouse wine list — well-stocked by the glass, recognizable labels, and competent enough to get through a nice dinner without frustration. The markups lean steep across the board, and the list won't surprise anyone, but the Dr. Loosen by the glass and the Rioja bottle are genuinely good calls if you know to look for them. Send a friend here for a steak dinner and tell them to skip the house Champagne.

Perry's Friendswood isn't going to blow any wine nerds' minds, but it's a solid, fairly priced list with enough range to keep most tables happy — and 37 by-the-glass options means nobody is stuck drinking something they hate. If you're here for a steak, grab the Dr. Loosen Riesling or the Crémant and don't overthink it.
