Wingman Metrics
You walk into The Goat and Clover and it's immediately clear this place is a beer joint that also happens to stock some wine. The list is a single compact page — 13 labels total — and skews hard toward crowd-pleasing California names most people recognize from grocery store shelves. That's not necessarily a death sentence, and at least they're honest about what they are.
The list leans almost entirely on California producers, with a lone Argentine in the room via the Alta Vista Malbec. You'll find Kendall Jackson Chardonnay, Murphy Goode Merlot, and Carmel Road Cab — this is the kind of lineup that makes no enemies and zero waves. There's a house rosé branded GOAT Dry Rose that's a fun nod to the restaurant's name, and the Pine Ridge White Blend at least gives you something slightly more interesting than the rest of the shelf. The sparkling section is a two-bottle situation — an Opera Prima Brut and a Jaume Serra Cristalino Cava — which is actually not bad for a downtown pub in Grand Junction.
Ten of the 13 labels are available by the glass, which is a genuinely strong ratio and means you're not locked into a bottle commitment. Pours run $8–$10, which is fair for Western Colorado and downright reasonable compared to what you'd pay in Denver. Rotation appears to be static — don't expect seasonal swaps or staff picks changing week to week.
Alta Vista Malbec — $9/glass
Alta Vista is a legitimate Argentine producer with real vineyard credibility, and at $9 a glass it's the most interesting bottle on the list for the money. It drinks above its price point and actually makes sense with the heavier pub fare.
Jaume Serra Cristalino Cava Brut
Most people ordering wine at a pub are reaching for red, but this Spanish Cava at $22 a bottle is genuinely good fizz for the price. Nobody's ordering it here, which means it's probably fresh and it's absolutely the move if you want something a little celebratory without blowing the budget.
Kendall Jackson Chardonnay
KJ Chardonnay is fine, but it's also $10–$12 at every grocery store in America. Paying $9 a glass for something you can buy by the case at Costco doesn't add up, and it's the most predictable pour on the list.
Alta Vista Malbec + Shepherd's Pie
The savory, meaty depth of a proper shepherd's pie wants a wine with some weight and dark fruit behind it. The Alta Vista Malbec's plummy character and firm structure holds up to the richness without getting lost in it — easily the best match on a short list.
✔️ The Bottom Line
The Goat and Clover is a pub, full stop — the wine list exists to serve people who don't want a beer, not to inspire anyone. Come for the fish and chips and a pint, but if you need a glass of wine, the Alta Vista Malbec will get you through the night without regret.
Patterson Road / Medical Center Area · Grand Junction · Gastropub / American
Come for the beer — seriously, come for the beer. The wine list is eight grocery-store bottles propped up by a Wednesday half-price deal that's the only real argument for ordering wine here at all.

Tequila's is a solid neighborhood Mexican spot that simply doesn't care about wine, and that's fine — the margaritas are probably doing heavy lifting anyway. Come for the tacos, skip the wine list, and don't let the four Sutter Home options talk you out of a good time.

Downtown Grand Junction · Grand Junction · Cocktail Bar / Small Plates
Moody's Lounge has no business having a wine list this interesting in a cocktail bar in Grand Junction, and we respect it. Markups are on the steeper side and there's no rotating program to keep things exciting, but the core selection shows real taste — and that counts for a lot out here.

Red Lobster's wine list is a chain afterthought with steep markups on brands you could grab at any gas station in Grand Junction. Skip the wine, order a cocktail, and save your wine budget for somewhere that actually tried.

Blue Moon is a fine neighborhood bar and an easy place to grab a glass of something cold after work — just don't come here expecting the wine list to match the charm of the room. Order the Alamos, enjoy the Greek food, and save your wine curiosity for somewhere else.

The Winery Restaurant is a reliable, well-meaning wine list that earns honest marks for spotlighting local Grand Valley producers and sneaking in a few Italian gems amid the Napa crowd. The markups can sting on the prestige bottles, but if you know where to look — and now you do — there's a genuinely good night of wine to be had here.
