Walking into The Fig Café feels like stumbling into exactly the kind of neighborhood wine bar Sonoma deserves but rarely delivers on — unpretentious, comfortable, and clearly wine-forward without trying too hard. The list skews local in the best possible way, leaning hard into the Valley's backyard rather than chasing prestige imports. At $38 on the low end for a bottle, you're not getting gouged just because you're in wine country.
The list is tight but intentional, with Sonoma and France as the twin anchors — a natural pairing for a bistro this style-conscious. Bedrock Wine Co.'s Sonoma Valley Old Vine Zinfandel earns its spot immediately; this is exactly the kind of producer that should anchor a local-focused list. B Wise Vineyards and Imagery Estate round out the Sonoma contingent and give the list some range without bloating it. France gets a nod, which keeps things honest for the bistro format, though we'd love to see more depth there — right now it reads more as an afterthought than a commitment.
Glass pours run $12–$22, which is reasonable for Sonoma without being a steal — you're paying for the location and the vibe, and at least the list doesn't punish you for it. Bedrock is one of the most respected names in California old-vine work, and getting it at this price point in a wine country restaurant is genuinely solid. Most places would mark this up into the $70s without blinking.

B Wise flies under the radar for most diners who gravitate toward the bigger Sonoma names, but this is a serious producer making structured, food-friendly reds. Worth the detour on the list.
Imagery Estate Winery Sonoma County
Imagery is fine — it's approachable, widely distributed, and checks a box — but it's also the kind of bottle you've seen at every mid-range restaurant in California. With Bedrock and B Wise on the same list, there's no reason to settle here.
