Wingman Metrics
The Bird is a legitimately great burger bar — loud, unpretentious, and exactly what you want after a day on the mountain. The wine list, however, looks like someone grabbed three bottles off a grocery store endcap and called it a program. If you came here for wine, you came to the wrong party.
The list clocks in at under fifteen labels, and the heaviest hitters are Apothic Red, Kendall-Jackson Chard, and Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio — three wines that appear on practically every lazy list from here to Applebee's. There's no regional ambition, no local Wyoming angle, no attempt to sneak in something interesting. The whole thing reads like a wine program that exists because the liquor license requires it, not because anyone behind the bar cares. Beer is clearly the religion here, and that's fine — just don't expect more from the wine shelf.
You're looking at four to six options by the glass, all in the $8–$12 range, and none of them will surprise you. The rotation appears to be essentially permanent — there's no evidence anything on this list has changed in years. It's a pour-and-forget setup.
Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio Valdadige — $42
It's the least offensive option on the list and at least has some name recognition for a reason — it's a reliably clean, inoffensive white. That said, $42 for a bottle that retails at $25 is still a stretch for a burger bar, so glass pours only if you must.
Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio Valdadige
Not exactly a hidden gem in the traditional sense, but in this context it's the one wine that's actually produced with some intention behind it. Relative to its listmates, it's the clear choice if you're ordering wine at all.
Apothic Red Blend
A $10 retail bottle marked up to $30 is a tough ask anywhere, but especially when the wine itself is a mass-produced, sugar-forward blend designed for people who don't really like wine. Order a beer instead — The Bird does beer right.
Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio Valdadige + Chicken Wings
The Pinot Grigio's clean acidity and light body cut through the fat and salt of the wings without fighting the heat. It's not a profound pairing, but it works — and on a warm deck overlooking the valley, it does the job.
❌ The Bottom Line
The Bird is a damn good burger bar and we'd send anyone there for food and cold beer. The wine list is an afterthought at best and a mild rip-off at worst — order a local craft draft and save the wine for dinner somewhere that gives a damn.
Jackson Town · Jackson Hole · Barbecue
Bubba's doesn't pretend to be a wine destination, and we respect the honesty — but the list is the definition of set-it-and-forget-it. Order a beer, enjoy the ribs, and save your wine curiosity for somewhere that reciprocates.

Teton Village · Jackson Hole · Outdoor Bar
The Handle Bar is the kind of wine program that does exactly what it needs to do for its setting — no more, no less. You'll drink well here if you pick smart, but this isn't a destination for wine people so much as a very competent resort bar that happens to have Opus One on the list.

Downtown Jackson · Jackson Hole · Cafe / Bakery
Persephone isn't a wine destination, but it absolutely punches above its weight for what it is — a bakery-café with a genuinely thoughtful short list of natural pours at fair prices. If you're in Jackson and want a glass of something interesting without the steakhouse markup, this is your move.

Town of Jackson · Jackson Hole · French-Inspired Bistro
The Bistro earns its stripes as a reliable wine destination in Jackson Hole — the sommelier influence is visible, the European focus is coherent, and the list has depth worth exploring. Just go in knowing the markups are hotel-resort territory, and steer toward the Old World bottles where the curation is strongest.

East of Jackson · Jackson Hole · Steakhouse / Grill
The Grill at Spring Creek Ranch delivers a competent, crowd-pleasing wine list that matches the lodge aesthetic perfectly — reliable, a little expensive, and zero risk. If you're here for the views and the bison, you'll drink well enough; just don't come expecting the list to match the drama outside the window.

Town Square · Jackson Hole · Tapas / Wine Bar
Bin22 is the wine bar that has no business being this good in the middle of Wyoming ski country, and that's exactly why we're sending people here. If you're in Jackson Hole and you care about what's in your glass, this is the only address that matters.
