150 Bottles Deep, Safely Italian

Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Terra Nostra comes in hot with a 150-bottle count, which sounds impressive until you start scanning and notice the familiar California faces. It's the kind of list that looks ambitious on paper but plays it closer to the center than the cover suggests. For a dressed-up Italian spot with a dedicated Martini & Wine Bar, we expected a few more curveballs.
The Italian representation is there — Melini Borghi d'Elsa Chianti, Banfi Saint Angelo Toscana Pinot Grigio, La Gioiosa Prosecco — but it doesn't go deep enough on the boot. California carries most of the weight, with Cakebread Napa Valley Chardonnay 2023 and the Alois Lageder Löwengang Chardonnay from Alto Adige adding some genuine prestige to the upper tier. The Woodbridge appearances at the entry level drag the credibility down a notch for a restaurant charging $25-$49 a plate. There's range here, but it's front-loaded with recognizable names rather than interesting ones.
Thirteen pours is a respectable glass program, spread from $8 to $12 and covering the expected Chardonnay-Pinot Grigio-Sauvignon Blanc white trifecta plus a Chianti and a Pinot Noir in red. The Rodney Strong Chalk Hill Chardonnay at $12 is the clear quality ceiling by the glass. The $8 floor is Woodbridge territory, which is fine for a casual Tuesday but feels a little out of place when your entrée costs $40.
Rodney Strong Chalk Hill Chardonnay — $12/glass
Chalk Hill fruit with actual structure and personality — this is the glass pour that earns its keep on a list that otherwise bottoms out at Woodbridge. Order this over anything at the $8 tier and don't look back.
Alois Lageder Löwengang Chardonnay Alto Adige 2020
Most tables here will reach for the Cakebread on autopilot, but the Lageder Löwengang is the smarter move — a northern Italian Chardonnay with precision and minerality that actually fits the restaurant's Italian identity better than anything from Napa. Most diners walk right past it.
Woodbridge Chardonnay
Eight dollars for a grocery-store pour at a $40-entree Italian steakhouse is a quiet disappointment. It's not a rip-off in dollar terms, but you're in a better room than this wine — step up a tier.
Melini Borghi d'Elsa Chianti + Veal Piccata
The Chianti's bright acidity and cherry fruit cut right through the butter-lemon sauce on the Piccata without fighting it. It's a classic Italian table move and one of the few moments on this list where the Italian identity of the restaurant and the wine actually line up.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Terra Nostra is a reliable wine stop for South Fort Myers — the list is deep enough to find something good, and a few bottles genuinely punch above the neighborhood's expectations. Just steer past the Woodbridge anchors and aim for the Italian and upper-tier California options, and you'll drink well with dinner.
Downtown River District · Fort Myers · Japanese, Sushi
Blu Sushi Downtown isn't a wine destination, but it's a perfectly functional place to have a decent glass while eating good rolls in a fun room. Send your friend here for a night out — just tell them to skip the Rombauer.

Mori Sushi & Grill isn't the place you go for a wine adventure, but the list is priced fairly and the Sauvignon Blancs do real work alongside the food. Grab a glass of Nobilo, order the sashimi, and don't overthink it.

Two Meatballs isn't a wine destination, but the Italian backbone of the list is honest and the pricing is fair enough that you won't feel robbed. Order the Barbera, get the baked ziti, and let the chaos of the dining room do the rest.

Non Chalance has all the right intentions — a chill wine bar vibe with small plates in a neighborhood that needed it — but the list leans hard on low-cost, high-markup retail staples that don't hold up under scrutiny. Come for the atmosphere, but go easy on the bottle orders.

Beacon Social Drinkery is a genuinely fun place to watch the sun go down — just don't come here expecting the wine list to match the altitude. Order a cocktail, enjoy the view, and if you must have wine, the Crios Rosé is your move.

The Silver King won't blow your mind, but it won't embarrass you either — and for a hotel restaurant in Fort Myers, that's a genuine win. Take the Leflaive, skip the Rombauer, and enjoy the river view.

There's one reason to come here for wine: Thursday. Half-price bottles on a standing weekly basis is a genuinely good deal, especially on the Santa Margherita. Any other night, the markups are steep and the list doesn't justify them.

Carrabba's Toledo isn't a destination for wine — but it's not an embarrassment either. The Ruffino Chianti Classico alone earns its keep, and if you stick to the Italian side of the list, you'll drink reasonably well without drama.

Marisi is a reliable Italian wine list with genuine ambition hiding behind a steep markup structure — the producers are right, the regions are right, but you'll pay for the privilege. Go for the Produttori Barbaresco and the Pre-Phylloxera Barbera, and you'll leave satisfied.
