Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Taverna reads like a casual neighborhood spot that knows its lane — nothing ambitious, nothing offensive, just approachable options to get you through a plate of gyros without overthinking it. The Mediterranean concept hints at something more adventurous, but the list doesn't quite follow through. That said, Wednesday half-price wine night is a genuine hook that earns some goodwill fast.
At 15–25 bottles, this is a compact list built around reliability rather than discovery. California anchors the program — the Tribute Cabernet Sauvignon on tap is the most identifiable producer here — while house Cabernet and house Chardonnay fill the workhorse roles. Tourism listings mention Greek imported wines, which would be the obvious and exciting move for a Modern Mediterranean concept, but how deep that rabbit hole actually goes is unclear from what's on offer. There's a real opportunity being left on the table: a Santorini Assyrtiko or a Greek Xinomavro would make total sense here and would give this list some actual identity.
Glass pours hover in the $7–$9 range for house options, which is reasonable for Flagstaff and won't sting the wallet. The Spanish Sangria by the glass is a crowd-pleaser that fits the vibe perfectly. With only 3–5 options on glass at any given time, don't expect much rotation — what you see is what you get.
Tribute Cabernet Sauvignon (on tap) — $26 bottle equivalent
On-tap wine gets a bad rap but done right it means fresher pours and lower overhead passed to you — the Tribute Cab is the most identifiable wine on the list and your best bet for a full bottle at the table without overpaying.
Spanish Sangria
It sounds like the tourist trap move, but at a festive Mediterranean spot with solid small plates, a pitcher of house sangria is genuinely the right call — it's made to share and it's priced to actually share.
House Chardonnay
At $7–$9 a glass for an undesignated house pour with no regional story, you're basically paying for cold white wine. It'll do the job but it's the least interesting thing on offer.
Spanish Sangria + Mezze small plates
A spread of mezze — olives, hummus, whatever's on the table — needs something fruit-forward and low-commitment to work through the whole meal. Sangria is that drink, and ordering it by the glass here means you're not locked into a bottle.
Wednesday — Half off all 6oz wine pours every Wednesday from 3pm to close.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Taverna isn't a destination for wine, but Wednesday half-price pours at a festive Mediterranean spot make it a genuinely good neighborhood move. Show up for the food, order the Sangria or the Tribute Cab, and don't expect the list to surprise you.
West Flagstaff · Flagstaff · Steakhouse
Texas Roadhouse is a legitimately fun place to eat a steak, but the wine program is an afterthought dressed up in a laminated menu. Order a beer, a cocktail, or just drink your weight in the complimentary bread — your palate will thank you either way.

Red Lobster Flagstaff is not a wine destination, and it's not pretending to be — if you're here, you're here for the biscuits and the shrimp, and that's fine. Grab a Matua or hit happy hour for the $5 pours, and spend your real wine energy somewhere else in town.

We wouldn't send a friend here for wine — we'd tell them to order a cocktail and enjoy the Bloomin' Onion without overthinking it. The wine list is a chain afterthought, and that's fine, but it earns no points for effort.

Olive Garden's wine program exists to check a box, not elevate your dinner — order what you came for (the pasta, the breadsticks, the vibe), and if you need wine, point at the Chianti and move on. If wine actually matters to you tonight, there are better options in Flagstaff.

Pita Jungle isn't a wine destination, but Wine Wednesday turns a modest, play-it-safe list into a genuinely good deal — $9 bottles with a plate of hummus and pita is hard to argue with. Come for the food, drink opportunistically, and set a calendar reminder for Wednesdays.

Diablo Burger is a legitimately good burger spot that happens to have two wines on the menu as an afterthought. Come for the Cheddar Diablo Burger, order a beer, and let someone else worry about the wine list.
