Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Tap 42 is exactly what you'd expect from a place that leads with 42 taps and a signature cocktail menu — an afterthought dressed up in a tidy column. Five by-the-glass options and a short bottle list of familiar grocery-store names tells you everything you need to know before the server even arrives. This is a bar that happens to sell wine, not a restaurant that takes wine seriously.
The list leans hard on brand-name recognition: Josh Cellars, Oyster Bay, Meiomi, Kendall-Jackson — wines you've seen at every chain restaurant from here to Houston. There's a nod toward Italy with the Il Masso Pinot Grigio and Gambino Prosecco, and Fleurs de Prairie covers the Provence rosé crowd, but don't go looking for anything that requires a second glance. The Bella Union by Far Niente Cabernet is the lone bottle that shows any ambition, and it sticks out like a sommelier at a keg party. Regions are scattered — California, Italy, Marlborough, Provence — but there's no coherent point of view, just crowd-pleasing hits.
Five options by the glass, and the pours clock in at $8, which would be a solid deal if the wines themselves were worth talking about. Expect the usual suspects rotating through without much fanfare or explanation. No visible rotation, no seasonal swap-ins — what's on the list is what's on the list, full stop.
Fleurs de Prairie Rosé — $8/glass
It's a legit Provence rosé at a glass price that doesn't sting. In a lineup of middling options, this is the one that at least earns its pour — especially on a warm Boca evening.
Bella Union by Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon
Most people at this table are ordering a craft IPA or a Moscow Mule, which means this Far Niente sister-label Cab quietly sits on the list underordered and underappreciated. It's a real wine from a serious producer — an island of intent in a sea of Meiomi.
Kendall-Jackson Chardonnay Vintner's Reserve
At $38 a bottle, you're paying nearly three times retail for a wine that retails around $13 at your local Publix. KJ Chard has its fans, but not at a 192% markup. Hard pass.
Rispetto Cabernet Sauvignon + Prohibition Burger
A straightforward Cab with enough dark fruit and structure to stand up to a big, beefy burger without overthinking it. Neither is trying to impress anyone, and that's kind of the point.
Wednesday — $20 off all bottles of wine all day with the purchase of an entrée, available open to close every Wednesday.
❌ The Bottom Line
Tap 42 is a great spot for craft beer and cocktails — the wine list is just along for the ride. Come on a Wednesday when $20 comes off the bottle price and the math gets a little less insulting, but don't make the wine the reason you're here.
Boca Raton · Boca Raton · Modern Italian Steakhouse
Dorsia's wine list is exactly what it wants to be — polished, crowd-pleasing, and priced for a room that's spending freely. If you're after discovery or value, you'll have to work for it; if you're here for the scene and a great steak, Caymus and a Super Tuscan have you covered.

Louie Bossi's isn't going to win any awards for wine curation, but that daily half-price bottle program is a legitimate reason to show up. Order an entrée, pick strategically, and you'll drink better than the list price would ever suggest.

West Boca · Boca Raton · Japanese and Thai
Bluefin is a solid spot for sushi and Thai food, but the wine list is an afterthought — overpriced commodity wines with no connection to the cuisine they're supposed to accompany. If you're coming here, order a sake or a cocktail and save the wine night for somewhere that cares.

Maggiano's isn't where you go to discover wine — it's where you go to eat a mountain of pasta and not overthink the bottle. Come on a Tuesday, when half-price wine turns a steep list into a genuinely solid deal, and you'll leave happy.

West Boca · Boca Raton · French and Mediterranean-inspired bistro
La Ferme isn't a wine destination, but it's a genuinely solid French bistro wine program that respects the cuisine and doesn't gouge you for the privilege. If Tuesday's half-price bottle promotion is still running, it's one of the better midweek wine deals in Boca.

The Melting Pot Boca isn't a wine destination, but Wine Down Thursday flips the math enough to make it worth the trip if you're already coming for the fondue. Go on a Thursday, order the Riesling, and ignore the Caymus upsell.

Redlands Grill is the wine list equivalent of a reliable designated driver — it won't excite you, but it'll get you home safe. If you're here for the prime rib and just want a solid glass of California Cab or Chard to go with it, you're covered.

Cooper's Hawk Kentwood is exactly what it is — a well-run chain winery restaurant with fair prices, a crowd-pleasing list, and staff that's enthusiastic if not deeply expert. Don't come here expecting to find your new favorite grower Champagne; do come here knowing you'll drink something decent without getting gouged.

Cooper's Hawk Toledo is a reliable, well-run wine program operating inside a brand-controlled bubble — if you know what you're walking into, you'll drink well for the money. Wednesday Wine Club nights make it a genuine destination; the rest of the week it's a solid, unpretentious option in a market that doesn't have a lot of alternatives.
