Walking into the Swiss Hotel, you're greeted by a wine list that knows exactly where it lives — Sonoma County, proudly. About 75 labels deep, the list leans hard into the surrounding wine country with recognizable names that will satisfy anyone who came to wine country to actually drink wine country wine. It's not trying to be a wine bar, but it's not phoning it in either.
The list is essentially a love letter to Sonoma and its neighbors, anchored by heavy-hitters like Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cab ($125) and Patz & Hall Sonoma Coast Chardonnay alongside more everyday-accessible picks. There's a nice spread across Pinot Noir — Gundlach Bundschu, Sangiacomo, Walt Santa Rita Hills, and the undersung 2016 Saxon Brown Ferrington Vineyard Anderson Valley — that shows someone put real thought into sourcing beyond the obvious. Cabernet holds its own with the Rodney Strong Reserve Alexander Valley and Silver Oak covering different price points. The list doesn't stray far internationally, which is fine given the zip code, but don't expect any Old World detours.

2022 Gundlach Bundschu Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir — $62
Gun Bun is one of Sonoma's oldest family wineries and a perennial overachiever on quality-per-dollar. At this price point in a restaurant, you're getting a proper Sonoma Coast Pinot from a producer with 160-plus years of credibility — that's the move.
2016 Saxon Brown Ferrington Vineyard Anderson Valley Pinot Noir
Most tables here will reach for Silver Oak or Patz & Hall without blinking. The Saxon Brown is the sleeper — a single-vineyard Anderson Valley Pinot with real age on it, from a small-production producer that doesn't chase attention. The 2016 vintage has had time to open up beautifully and it'll outshine a lot of what's on this list.
2020 Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
At $125, Silver Oak is Silver Oak — dependable, crowd-pleasing, and wildly over-ordered. Retail on this bottle sits around $75-80, so you're paying a significant markup for a label that requires zero bravery to order. There are more interesting Cabs on this list for less money.
2019 Rodney Strong Reserve Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon + Brick-oven pizza with sausage
The Reserve Cab from Rodney Strong has the structure and dark fruit to stand up to a hearty, charred brick-oven sausage pizza without steamrolling it. Alexander Valley Cab tends to be a touch riper and more approachable than Napa, which makes it a better pizza companion than something tannic and austere.

The Swiss Hotel won't blow any serious wine geek's mind, but as a Sonoma Plaza stop it delivers an honest, locally-rooted list at prices that don't insult you. Send a friend here, point them toward the Saxon Brown, and let the patio do the rest.
