The SWeL wine list is short, approachable, and clearly built for the same crowd ordering spicy flatbreads and jalapeño hummus — people who want something good in the glass without overthinking it. It's not trying to impress anyone, and honestly, that's kind of refreshing. What's here is reasonably chosen, even if the list stops well short of adventurous.
Nine bottles cover France, Italy, Washington State, California, and Argentina — a quick lap around the globe without going deep anywhere. The French representation is the most interesting: a Loire Sauvignon Blanc from JM Reverdy, a Provence Viognier from Triennes, and a Macon-Villages Chardonnay from Joseph Drouhin give the white side some actual provenance. On the red side, the Matthews Cabernet from Columbia Valley is a solid local flag-plant, though the Scotto Family Cellars Cabernet from Lodi sits at the less-exciting end of the spectrum. The house SWeL Red Blend is a mystery without more detail, but its presence signals the restaurant wants a branded anchor rather than a curated cellar.
We don't have a confirmed by-the-glass count from the research data, but given the size of the bottle list, expect most or all of these wines to be available by the glass. The Lampo Prosecco is a natural opener, and the Campuget Rosé from Nîmes is an easy crowd-pleaser for the casual patio energy SWeL radiates. Rotation doesn't appear to be a priority here.
JM Reverdy Charme De Loire Sauvignon Blanc, Loire Valley, FR — null
Loire Sauvignon Blanc from a solid producer is exactly the kind of wine that punches above its price point at a casual neighborhood spot. It's bright, food-friendly, and works with basically everything on this menu — especially the hummus and lighter bites.
Triennes Saint Fleur Organic Viognier, Provence, FR
Most people skip Viognier because they don't know what to do with it, which means this bottle often gets left on the table for the Chardonnay crowd. Triennes is a serious Provence producer, the wine is organically farmed, and it's floral and rich in a way that plays really well against spice — including SWeL's chili oil pizzas.
Scotto Family Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon, Lodi, CA
Lodi Cab at a restaurant markup is rarely the move. When you've got a Matthews Columbia Valley Cab on the same list — a Washington producer with actual pedigree — there's no reason to reach for this one.
Triennes Saint Fleur Organic Viognier, Provence, FR + Diamond-shaped flatbread with spicy chili oil
The Viognier's weight and floral richness are built for spice. The chili heat on SWeL's signature flatbreads needs something with body to stand up to it, and the stone fruit and aromatic character of a good Provence Viognier does exactly that without getting in the way.
✔️ The Bottom Line
SWeL is a solid neighborhood wine situation — nothing that'll blow your mind, but nothing that'll embarrass you either. If you're here for pizza and good company, the list does its job.

Serafina is a reliable Italian neighborhood spot with a wine list that matches its ambitions — cozy, competent, and a little expensive for what it is. Send a friend here for the pasta and Nebbiolo, but warn them to steer clear of the Prosecco markups.

Bar Melusine is what Capitol Hill needed more of: a focused, France-forward wine program that actually earns its place next to the food. If you're eating oysters in Seattle, this should be in your regular rotation.

Picolinos is the kind of neighborhood Italian where the wine list genuinely backs up the food, and that's rarer than it should be. Send your friends here if they want a proper Barolo with their osso buco without flying to Turin.

Pike Place Market · Seattle · Italian-American with Northwest influence
The Pink Door is a reliable wine list in a genuinely great room — the atmosphere does a lot of heavy lifting, and the wine program is good enough not to get in the way of a memorable evening. Just watch the markups, stick to the Italian bottles, and let the trapeze act do the rest.

Capitol Hill · Seattle · Modern steakhouse with French-influenced Pacific Northwest cuisine
Bateau is the rare steakhouse where the wine list earns as much attention as what's on the butcher board. Markups keep it from being a total steal, but the depth, the staff, and the Pacific Northwest-first perspective make this one worth the splurge.

Tavolàta's wine list is exactly what a good Italian pasta spot should have — focused, fairly priced, and honest about what it is. If you're looking for a list to geek out over, keep walking; if you're looking for something that drinks well with great pasta, pull up a chair.
