Great Sake, Forgettable Wine List

The wine list at Suda reads like an afterthought tacked onto a genuinely strong sake program. A dozen or so bottles, a handful of pours by the glass, and nothing that makes you put down the sake menu — which, honestly, is probably the right call anyway.
The bottle list leans hard on easy-sell American names: Joel Gott Sauvignon Blanc, Meiomi Pinot Noir, Gruet Brut. These aren't bad wines — they're just grocery store regulars dressed up with a restaurant price tag. There's a nod toward food-friendly French with something in the Beaujolais-Villages vein, and a rotating house rosé that at least shows a little seasonal awareness. What's missing is any real sense of curation — no attempt to dig into German Riesling, Austrian Grüner, or even a crisp Loire white that would actually sing alongside izakaya small plates.
Four to six pours by the glass is workable but thin for a lively spot doing solid dinner volume. Prices run $9–$15, which is reasonable for Jackson Hole (everything costs more here), but you're choosing from the same familiar faces as the bottle list. The sake BTG program is genuinely better — if you're here for wine, temper expectations.
Gruet Brut NV — $55
Yes, $55 for a bottle of Gruet still stings at roughly 3x retail, but sparkling wine is the one category that works across every dish on this menu — from sushi to karaage to tonkotsu ramen. If you're splitting a bottle at the table, this is your move.
Louis Jadot Beaujolais-Villages
Most people skip right past Beaujolais on a menu like this, which is a mistake. It's light, slightly earthy, and low-tannin enough to actually hold up alongside soy-forward dishes without steamrolling them. It's the wine list's most honest food pairing.
Joel Gott Sauvignon Blanc
At $48 a bottle for a wine you can grab at your local supermarket for $13, this is the list's worst value by percentage. It's not a bad wine — it's just a bad deal, and there's nothing here that justifies the 4x markup.
Louis Jadot Beaujolais-Villages + Karaage fried chicken
Crispy, salty, umami-heavy fried chicken needs something bright and low-tannin to cut through — not a big Cab, not a heavy Pinot. Beaujolais is light enough to stay out of the way while the fruit gives you a little contrast against the soy and sesame.
Monday — Early-week drink specials historically include discounted sake carafes and select wines by the glass. Not strictly half-price and the structure changes seasonally — verify directly before you go.
❌ The Bottom Line
Suda is a genuinely fun izakaya with a sake program worth exploring, but the wine list is uninspired, overpriced, and clearly not where the kitchen's beverage energy lives. Order sake, order cocktails, or order the Gruet if you need bubbles — just don't come here expecting the wine list to impress.
Jackson Town · Jackson Hole · Barbecue
Bubba's doesn't pretend to be a wine destination, and we respect the honesty — but the list is the definition of set-it-and-forget-it. Order a beer, enjoy the ribs, and save your wine curiosity for somewhere that reciprocates.

Teton Village · Jackson Hole · Outdoor Bar
The Handle Bar is the kind of wine program that does exactly what it needs to do for its setting — no more, no less. You'll drink well here if you pick smart, but this isn't a destination for wine people so much as a very competent resort bar that happens to have Opus One on the list.

Downtown Jackson · Jackson Hole · Cafe / Bakery
Persephone isn't a wine destination, but it absolutely punches above its weight for what it is — a bakery-café with a genuinely thoughtful short list of natural pours at fair prices. If you're in Jackson and want a glass of something interesting without the steakhouse markup, this is your move.

Town of Jackson · Jackson Hole · French-Inspired Bistro
The Bistro earns its stripes as a reliable wine destination in Jackson Hole — the sommelier influence is visible, the European focus is coherent, and the list has depth worth exploring. Just go in knowing the markups are hotel-resort territory, and steer toward the Old World bottles where the curation is strongest.

East of Jackson · Jackson Hole · Steakhouse / Grill
The Grill at Spring Creek Ranch delivers a competent, crowd-pleasing wine list that matches the lodge aesthetic perfectly — reliable, a little expensive, and zero risk. If you're here for the views and the bison, you'll drink well enough; just don't come expecting the list to match the drama outside the window.

Bin22 is the wine bar that has no business being this good in the middle of Wyoming ski country, and that's exactly why we're sending people here. If you're in Jackson Hole and you care about what's in your glass, this is the only address that matters.
