Wingman Metrics
Stellina is primarily a cocktail bar β the wine list knows that and doesn't pretend otherwise. What you get is a tight, curated handful of bottles that lean Italian and French, which at least makes sense given the Neapolitan pizza coming out of Fortunato next door. It's not trying to be a wine destination, but it's also not embarrassing itself.
The list is short but shows some editorial intent. Monte Tondo represents the Delle Venezie DOC with a Pinot Grigio that's a step above the bulk Grigio poured at half the bars in Virginia. Jean Marie Reverdy brings a Loire Sauvignon Blanc β a solid, classic choice. Livio Felluga's Sauvignon Blanc adds a Friulian angle that's genuinely interesting for a cocktail bar in downtown Roanoke. The Willowbrook Chardonnay is the outlier β domestic, more mainstream β but it covers the crowd-pleaser base. Don't come here expecting Barolo or aged Burgundy; come here expecting a few smart pours that won't ruin your night.
Four options by the glass, which is exactly what a cocktail-forward bar should offer β enough choice without overcrowding the program. The selection spans Pinot Grigio, two Sauvignon Blancs, and a Chardonnay, so if you're a red wine drinker, you're going to want to check in on current availability before committing. Rotation appears limited; this feels more like a set list than an evolving program.
Monte Tondo Delle Venezie Pinot Grigio β null
Pricing wasn't available at time of review, but Monte Tondo is a legitimate producer from the Veneto β not a commodity label. If it's priced in line with the cocktail bar tier, it's the most honest pour on the list.
Livio Felluga Sauvignon Blanc
Most people at a cocktail bar skip the wine entirely, and if they do order, they grab the most familiar name. Livio Felluga is a Friuli institution β crisp, mineral-driven Sauvignon Blanc with real character. It's the kind of bottle that makes you wonder why this bar bothered, in the best way possible.
Willowbrook Chardonnay
Nothing technically wrong with it, but it's the most generic option on a list that otherwise shows some curiosity. If you're ordering Chardonnay at a cocktail bar next to a Neapolitan pizza spot, at least make it interesting β the Italian and French options are right there.
Jean Marie Reverdy Sauvignon Blanc + Neapolitan-style pizza from Fortunato
A Loire Sauvignon Blanc has the acidity to cut through tomato sauce and the freshness to not compete with the char on the crust. It's not a complicated pairing β it just works.
π² The Bottom Line
Stellina is a cocktail bar that happens to have a thoughtful four-bottle wine list, which is more than most cocktail bars can say. If you're there for the vibe and the pizza, the wine program will take care of you just fine β don't show up expecting a deep cellar.

Tokyo is a hibachi restaurant that happens to have wine, not the other way around β and that's fine, but don't make the wine the reason you come. Stick to the sake options, keep your glass price low, and enjoy the show.

TGI Friday's Roanoke is a fine place to grab a beer or a Jack and Coke, but the wine program is a corporate afterthought with steep markups on bottom-shelf bottles. Order a cocktail, save the wine for somewhere that gives a damn.

Shakers isn't a wine destination β it's a reliable neighborhood spot where the wine program does its job without drama. If you're here for ribs and a casual pour, you'll leave satisfied; just don't show up expecting discovery.

Abuelo's wine list exists to check a box, not to enhance your dinner β stick to the cocktails and revisit this list never. If someone at your table insists on wine, go Joel Gott and call it a night.

The markups are honest and the Mollydooker pour is a genuine saving grace, but this list exists to check a corporate box, not to help you drink well. Order the Mollydooker with your steak, skip any bottle over $40, and keep your expectations calibrated to the Bloomin' Onion energy of the room.

The Pine Room is a great spot for a drink and a burger in a handsome historic room, but the wine list is an afterthought in a state with a legitimate wine culture worth showcasing. Order a cocktail or ask for whatever's on tap, and don't make a trip here specifically for the wine.
