Nine wines at a cocktail bar — that's not an oversight, that's a decision. Sidecar isn't trying to be a wine destination, but the list they've put together is more considered than the average gastropub afterthought. You're not here for the Burgundy cellar; you're here because the person across the table ordered a Negroni and you wanted something with bubbles.
The list skews light and approachable: Italian whites and sparklers anchor one end, California and Chilean house pours hold down the other. La Superba Pinot Grigio and the Tintero Moscato d'Asti show real intent — these aren't random label pulls. The Prisoner Red Blend is the token big-name crowd-pleaser, which tracks for a bar crowd that wants a recognizable label. There are real gaps here — no aged reds, no domestic white beyond the house Chardonnay — but for nine bottles, they've covered more ground than they had to.
Every single bottle on the list is available by the glass, which is the right call for a cocktail-forward bar where wine is a supporting act. The price range ($10–$13) is honest and consistent, with the Moscato d'Asti hitting $10 as the low end. Rotation doesn't appear to be a priority — this feels like a static menu — but the options land across enough styles to give most tables something workable.
Tintero Moscato d'Asti — $10
Tintero is a legit producer from Piedmont making low-alcohol, slightly fizzy Moscato that's genuinely food-friendly and fun. At $10 a glass in a bar setting, it's the easiest yes on the menu.
Naveran Cava Brut Rosé
Naveran is a solid Catalan house that doesn't get much name recognition stateside. A Cava Brut Rosé at a SLO gastropub for $13 is the kind of low-key find that makes bar wine worth investigating.
Prisoner Red Blend
The Prisoner is fine, but at $20 a glass you're paying a premium for a brand that's been mass-market for years. The intrigue is long gone; the markup is still there.

Finney's is a great craft beer bar that happens to have a wine list attached, and the wine list knows its place. If you're here for wine, you're at the wrong table — but if your crew wants beer and you need something in a stem, the Margerum Rosé will get you through the night.

Mistura earns its Wild Card badge by doing something most Peruvian spots don't bother with: building a wine list that actually reflects where the food comes from. The execution has room to grow — markups are real, the list is thin in spots, and specials aren't a thing — but the instinct is right, and that Tablas Creek bottle alone is worth the detour.
