The wine list at Rusty Bucket feels exactly like what you'd expect from a chain tavern that treats wine as an afterthought — a short lineup of recognizable California names designed to move bottles, not inspire anyone. If you came here hoping to find something interesting, you're going to be disappointed before you even flag down a server.
We're working with a list of 20-35 bottles that leans almost entirely on familiar California Cabernet Sauvignon — think grocery store endcap, not curated list. The two names we can confirm are Franciscan Estate and Spellbound, both solid, inoffensive picks, but that's about the ceiling here. There's no meaningful regional diversity, no Old World representation we could find, and no indication that anyone is actively tending this list with any curatorial intent. It's a wine list that exists because a restaurant has to have one.
There are 8-14 glass pours on offer, which sounds reasonable until you realize the range is probably all playing the same California hits. Pour sizes come in 6oz and 9oz options, which is a nice practical touch — but variety is thin enough that the extra ounce is doing a lot of heavy lifting.
Spellbound Cabernet Sauvignon — Half price on Tuesdays
Spellbound is an honest, drinkable California Cab that doesn't embarrass itself. At full price it's fine; at half price on Poppin' Bottles Tuesday it's genuinely worth ordering. Come Tuesday or don't bother.
Franciscan Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
Most people at Rusty Bucket are ordering cocktails or beer, which means this Napa Cab — one of the more serious names on a very unserious list — gets ignored. It's not a hidden gem in the traditional sense, but relative to the company it keeps here, it punches above the room.
Spellbound Cabernet Sauvignon
At full price on any night that isn't Tuesday, you're paying chain-restaurant markup on a bottle that retails for around $12-15. The wine isn't the problem — the margin is. Save it for Tuesday or grab a beer.
Franciscan Estate Cabernet Sauvignon + Classic Cheeseburger
A structured California Cab with some backbone actually works with a well-built cheeseburger — the fat from the beef softens the tannins and the wine gives the whole thing a bit more weight than the usual beer-and-burger routine. It's not a revelation, but it's the best play on this menu.
Tuesday — Chain-wide 'Poppin' Bottles Tuesday' promo — all bottles of wine are half price. Dayton location participates, though it's worth confirming locally. This is the only compelling reason to order wine here.
❌ The Bottom Line
Rusty Bucket is a perfectly fine place to eat a burger and watch a game — just don't come here for the wine list. If you must drink wine, show up on Tuesday when the bottles are half off and the math finally makes sense.

The wine list is an afterthought dressed up in a laminated card — but the prices are fair enough that ordering a glass won't ruin your night. Come for the steak, drink the Coppola Cab, and don't look at the list too hard.

BJ's Dayton is a beer restaurant with a wine list stapled to the back, and the wine list knows it. Come for the Pizookie and the craft beers — but if you do drink wine here, show up on a Monday and order something simple.

Bravo is not a wine destination, and it doesn't try to be — but Wednesday nights at the bar with $7 pours of Ruffino Chianti and a pasta dish is genuinely a decent night out in Beavercreek. Skip the wine list the other six nights unless you're okay paying chain markups for supermarket bottles.

Fleming's Dayton is a reliable, well-run steakhouse wine program that does exactly what it promises — it just charges a lot for the privilege. Come for Social Hour, drink smart, and don't let anyone talk you into the Caymus at bottle price.

Dayton Mall/Miamisburg · Dayton · Seafood
Bonefish Grill Dayton is a decent dinner spot for seafood, but the wine list is a national template — not a local program anyone actually thought about. Order the Nobilo, enjoy the fish, and save your wine ambitions for somewhere that has any.

Olive Garden's wine list is a corporate checkbox, not a wine program — markups are steep on bottles that retail for under $12, the list never changes, and nobody on the floor is going to steer you anywhere interesting. Stick to the Chianti or the Ste. Michelle Riesling, skip the Moscato upsell, and manage your expectations accordingly.
