You walk into what looks like a solid downtown pub and then notice Gramercy Cellars and Rotie Cellars on the wine list — two of Walla Walla's most respected producers. That's not a coincidence; that's someone at this bar actually giving a damn. For a pub serving mac and cheese and curry cod, the wine curation punches well above its weight class.
The list leans heavily local, and correctly so — you're in Walla Walla, why would you drink otherwise. Balboa's 2018 Syrah, Rotie's GSM, and Gramercy's Cab represent a genuine cross-section of what the valley does well with reds. Dunham Cellars' Trutina and Brook & Bull's Cabernet Franc round out the Columbia Valley contingent nicely, while the oddball Secret Squirrel 2016 Red Blend shows someone's been digging around. The Segura Viudas sparkling wines feel a little out of place — not bad choices, just a bit like finding a Vegas showgirl at a barn dance.
Ten by-the-glass options is genuinely solid for a pub, and the draft wine program from Proletariat — Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay (a collaboration with House of Bones), and Pinot Gris — is a legitimately interesting move that most bars in any wine region haven't bothered to try. Prices run $10–$17 a glass, which is honest money in a town where tasting rooms charge $25 for the same bottles. The Walla Walla Vintners Rosé 2024 and Rotie's Rosé give you two local pink options, which is a flex for a bar menu.
Rotie Cellars GSM 2022 Walla Walla Valley — $17/glass
Rotie's GSM is a serious wine — structured, aromatic, built on Walla Walla fruit — and getting it by the glass at a pub price means you can actually order a second round without regretting it. Retail on Rotie bottles runs considerably higher, so the markup here is doing you a favor.
Proletariat Chardonnay (draft) Columbia Valley
Draft wine at a pub sounds like a gimmick until you realize this is a Proletariat and House of Bones collaboration — two producers who take their craft seriously. Most people are going to scroll past it and order a beer. Don't. It's the most interesting pour on the list and probably the one your table will still be talking about.
Segura Viudas Brut, Spain
Segura Viudas is fine Cava — inoffensive, affordable — but it's a supermarket staple in a list otherwise full of legitimate local producers. If you want bubbles, the Segura Viudas Brut Rosé is at least a little more interesting, but honestly just start with a Rotie Rosé instead.
Balboa Winery Syrah 2018 Walla Walla Valley + New York Steak
Balboa's 2018 Syrah has the age and the Walla Walla structure to stand up to a proper steak without trampling it. The wine's dark fruit and savory edge is basically built for this interaction. Order it medium-rare and don't overthink it.

Public House 124 is the wine list a great pub should have and almost never does — locally focused, fairly priced, and thoughtful enough to include draft Proletariat wines alongside Rotie and Gramercy. Send your friends here absolutely, just maybe skip the Segura Viudas.
