Wingman Metrics
Pi Social's wine list isn't trying to reinvent anything, and honestly that's fine. It's a patio bar in Midland with craft cocktails as the star of the show — wine is here to play a supporting role. At $9–$14 a glass, it's at least priced like they want you to order one.
The list leans Italian with a few international fillers scattered in — think airport lounge with better pizza. LaLuca Prosecco and Banfi Centine Pinot Grigio anchor the white side, both reliable crowd-pleasers but nothing that'll make you stop mid-bite. There's a house rosé floating around without a clear label attached, which tells you most of what you need to know about the depth of curation here. If you came hoping for a Sicilian Nero d'Avola or a wild-card Txakoli, wrong room.
Eight to fifteen pours by the glass is a solid spread for a spot like this, and the price ceiling of $14 keeps things accessible. The rotation doesn't appear to change much — what you see is what you get, week after week. It works for the venue, but wine explorers will hit the ceiling fast.
LaLuca Prosecco — $9
At the low end of the price range, this is an easy yes for a patio opener. LaLuca is clean, food-friendly, and doesn't pretend to be something it's not — which is exactly what you want before a round of sliders.
Banfi Centine Pinot Grigio
Banfi's Centine line punches above its casual positioning — it's produced by one of Tuscany's major serious houses and drinks cleaner and livelier than most restaurant-list Pinot Grigios at this price. Most people will scroll past it, but it's actually the most credible thing on the list.
House Rosé
An unlabeled house rosé is always a gamble, and without knowing the producer, you're flying blind. At a spot where the named bottles are already entry-level, the mystery pour isn't the adventure you're looking for — get the Prosecco instead.
LaLuca Prosecco + Honey Bastard Pie
The Honey Bastard's spicy-sweet profile needs something with enough brightness and bubbles to reset your palate. Prosecco's light sweetness and effervescence cut right through the heat without fighting the honey — it's a surprisingly solid match for a casual patio night.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Pi Social isn't a wine destination, but it doesn't bill itself as one. If you're in Midland, grabbing a glass of Prosecco before a pizza on the patio, this does the job without gouging you — and that's a reasonable ask.
North Midland / Loop 250 · Midland · Tex-Mex and Mexican
Abuelo's is a great place to eat enchiladas and drink a margarita — the wine list is an afterthought and should be treated as one. If wine matters to you tonight, this isn't your spot.

Loop 250 / Retail Corridor · Midland · American Gastropub
Cork & Pig is doing more with wine than anyone should expect from a retail-corridor gastropub in Midland. The markups sting a little at the top end, but the Social Hour pricing and the breadth of the by-the-glass program make this an easy recommendation for locals who want something better than house red.

Texas Sun Winery is a genuinely weird and fun detour in a city not known for wine culture — the sangria program is novel, the Texas wine wall is an unexpected bonus, and the by-the-glass markup is something to watch. Come for the experience, order the bottle, skip the solo glass.

Texas Sun is a genuine local story in a city that doesn't have many of them, and for that alone it earns a visit. Just set your expectations to 'fun afternoon on the patio' rather than 'deep wine exploration' and you'll leave happy.

North Midland · Midland · Wine Bistro
Texas Sun Winery Bistro is doing something genuinely unusual in a city where the default move is a steakhouse Cab — a house-label global list with fair prices, 38 pours by the glass, and Armenian wines you won't find anywhere else in the Permian Basin. Send your most wine-curious friend here and tell them to ignore the Malbec.

Pi Social isn't going to win any wine program awards, but the Thursday half-price bottles and a surprisingly solid Villa Matilde Aglianico make it worth skipping the cocktail menu at least once. For Midland, this is a respectable effort — show up on Thursday and drink smarter than the room.
