Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Perry's Franklin reads like it was built for the guest who knows what they want and doesn't want to think too hard about it. Fifty-eight labels, a surprisingly robust by-the-glass program, and prices that don't make you wince — this is a steakhouse list doing exactly what a steakhouse list should do. It's not trying to be a wine bar, and that honesty is refreshing.
The list leans heavily California, with Sonoma and Monterey anchoring both the white and red sections — Hartford Court Chardonnay from Russian River Valley and Matanzas Creek Sauvignon Blanc from Sonoma are the clearest signals that someone paid at least some attention to provenance. International representation is thin but not absent: Dr. Loosen's 'Dr. L' Riesling from Mosel, Antinori's Santa Cristina Pinot Grigio, Marqués de Cáceres Tempranillo from Rioja, and the Rothschild Lafite 'Les Légendes' Bordeaux blend give the list a few passport stamps. The sparkling section is genuinely one of the more considered parts of the menu, running from a $50 Carnissi Prosecco up through a $130 Perry's Reserve Premier Cru Champagne. What's missing: any serious Burgundy, no Rhône, no Italian reds beyond a footnote — if you're a Barolo person, you're ordering a cocktail.
Thirty-two by-the-glass options is an impressive number for a steakhouse, and the price floor of $10/glass for the Dr. Loosen Riesling or Antinori Pinot Grigio is legitimately reasonable. The glass program mirrors the bottle list closely — same producers, same crowd-pleasing hits — so don't expect surprises, but do expect consistency. The Perry's Reserve house labels (Rosé, Chardonnay) show up by the glass at $14–$15 and fill the mid-tier slot competently.
The Bottom Line
Perry's Franklin is a reliable steakhouse wine list — fair pricing, a genuinely large by-the-glass selection, and a few smart picks scattered among the safe choices. It's not going to excite a serious wine drinker, but it's not going to embarrass one either. Send your friend here knowing they'll drink well without getting gouged.

· Franklin · Steakhouse
Char is a genuinely enjoyable steakhouse with a wine list that does the job without doing much more. The room earns its keep; the wine program is still a passenger rather than a co-pilot. If you're coming here for the Prime beef and the atmosphere, you'll eat well — just don't expect the list to take you anywhere the food isn't already going. Worth a visit, but bring your own expectations in check at the wine menu.

Hawkers Franklin is doing more with twelve bottles than most casual chains do with thirty. The white-heavy, aromatic-leaning list is clearly built with the food in mind — even if it was done at the corporate level rather than by someone in this specific kitchen. If you're eating here, lean into the Gamay or Vinho Verde and skip the impulse to order Cab. It won't change your life, but it'll make dinner better.

If you're here for wine, you're at the wrong restaurant — but the pricing is honest and the Sauvignon Blanc won't ruin your dinner. Order a cocktail and save your wine energy for somewhere that cares.

This is a chain wine list doing exactly what chain wine lists do — keeping it safe, keeping it recognizable, and marking it up just enough to pad margins. Drink here because you're having dinner, not because you're having wine.

1799 is a solid option when you're already staying at The Harpeth or dining for the atmosphere — the Southern food looks genuinely good and the room earns its upscale-casual reputation. But if wine is your reason for going out, Franklin has better options; this list is there to serve the food, not the other way around.

Pelato Franklin isn't going to make wine pilgrims drive down from Nashville, but it's doing more than the Italian-suburban average — an orange wine, some solid regional Italian whites, and a few California names that earn their spot. Come for the food, stay curious about the list.

Perry's is a reliable steakhouse wine list — well-stocked by the glass, recognizable labels, and competent enough to get through a nice dinner without frustration. The markups lean steep across the board, and the list won't surprise anyone, but the Dr. Loosen by the glass and the Rioja bottle are genuinely good calls if you know to look for them. Send a friend here for a steak dinner and tell them to skip the house Champagne.

Six bottles shouldn't work this well, but The Palm Houston's list reads like someone with actual taste had five minutes and zero budget to fix the wine program — and somehow nailed it. We can't speak to service knowledge or storage conditions with confidence, but the value here, especially that Lucien Crochet at $23, is hard to argue with. If you're eating at The Palm anyway, ignore every instinct to order something familiar and trust the list.

Perry's Friendswood isn't going to blow any wine nerds' minds, but it's a solid, fairly priced list with enough range to keep most tables happy — and 37 by-the-glass options means nobody is stuck drinking something they hate. If you're here for a steak, grab the Dr. Loosen Riesling or the Crémant and don't overthink it.
