Wingman Metrics
Walking into the Palm Court feels like stepping into a 1914 time capsule — soaring skylights, ornate everything, the kind of room that makes you want to order a bottle before you've even sat down. The wine list matches the setting: composed, Pacific Northwest-leaning, and more approachable in price than the chandelier overhead would suggest. This isn't a list that's trying to impress wine nerds, but it's not insulting them either.
The list runs 75 to 120 labels with a clear anchor in Pacific Northwest producers, which makes sense given Spokane's proximity to Washington wine country. Arbor Crest, a Spokane institution with a vineyard estate perched on a basalt cliff above the Spokane River, gets prominent placement — and rightfully so. The list doesn't stray far geographically or stylistically; you're not going to find a grower Champagne or an aged Barolo hiding in the back pages. But for a hotel restaurant serving Northwest-inspired fare, the regional focus is a feature, not a bug.
Somewhere between 12 and 18 by-the-glass options, which is a solid count for a hotel dining room at this price point. The glass pours skew approachable — Arbor Crest Riesling and Chardonnay anchor the whites, La Marca Prosecco covers the bubbly ask. Rotation doesn't appear to be a priority here; this feels more like a curated standing menu than something that changes with the seasons.
Arbor Crest Chardonnay — $10
Retail on this sits around $15, and you're getting it for ten bucks a glass in a stunning historic room. That's a genuinely honest pour — local provenance, fair price, no games.
Arbor Crest Riesling
Most people at a fine dining room reflexively dodge Riesling like it's a liability, but Arbor Crest's version from Washington's Columbia Valley is dry enough to sip through dinner and distinctive enough to make the meal feel like it belongs somewhere specific. At $10 a glass, it's the most interesting thing on the list that nobody's ordering.
JP Chenet Brut
At $9 a glass for a mass-market French bubbly that retails under $10 a bottle, you're essentially paying hotel convenience pricing for something you'd find in a grocery store end cap. The La Marca next to it is a better spend for just a dollar more.
Arbor Crest Riesling + Crab Louie Salad
The Riesling's brightness and restrained sweetness cut through the richness of the dressing without stepping on the delicate crab. It's a Northwest-meets-Northwest moment that actually makes sense on the plate.
✔️ The Bottom Line
The Palm Court isn't going to make any wine destination lists, but the markup is shockingly fair for a hotel of this caliber and the Pacific Northwest focus gives the list a genuine sense of place. If you're in Spokane and want a solid glass of local wine in a room that earns every bit of its 'historic landmark' billing, this is your spot.

West Downtown / Riverside · Spokane · Barbecue / American Tavern
The Blackbird is a genuinely good barbecue tavern that simply doesn't care about wine, and the steep markups on uninspired bottles make that indifference expensive. Come for the smoked meats and a cold beer — if you insist on wine, grab the Milbrandt and move on.

Downtown Spokane · Spokane · Fondue / Upscale Casual
The Melting Pot Spokane isn't a wine destination, and it's not trying to be — but the Washington State anchors on this list are genuinely good, and if you stick to those, you'll drink well enough for the occasion. Come for the fondue experience, order the Ste. Michelle, and save the serious wine night for somewhere else.

Downtown Spokane · Spokane · Hotel cocktail bar and lounge with small plates
1919 won't blow any minds, but for a hotel bar in downtown Spokane it earns genuine respect for keeping Washington State producers front and center. Come for the room, stay for the Beresan — just don't expect any surprises in the pricing.

The Grand Terrace Bar is a great place to drink wine in Spokane — just not necessarily great wine. Come for the skyline, order the Riesling, and save the serious bottle hunting for elsewhere.
