Fourteen bottles, all by the glass — that's a bold format that says we trust you to drink what you want, not what we push. For a Latin-leaning small plates spot in Rochester, Minnesota, this list punches well above its zip code. It's compact, intentional, and clearly put together by someone who actually thought about it.
The list spans Cava from Cune, Albariño from Anselmo Mendes, a white Nero d'Avola from Morgante, Nebbiolo from G.D. Vajra, and Tempranillo from Muga Reserva — that's a genuinely interesting cross-section for a mid-sized Midwest city. There's a tilt toward Spanish and Italian producers that fits the Latin/global concept, and California shows up in force via Au Bon Climat, Trefethen, and Treana. The gaps are real — no South American bottles on a Latin menu is a strange omission, and the list doesn't venture into natural wine territory. But within 14 bottles, the choices are sharper than most restaurants with triple the options.
Everything on the list is available by the glass, which is either a dream or a logistical nightmare depending on how well they manage oxidation. Prices run $10–$25 a glass, which lands fair for this market. The range by the glass — from a $10 Cava to a $25 Nebbiolo — gives you room to explore without committing to a full bottle.
Caparzo Sangiovese — $40
Caparzo is a solid Tuscan producer and $40 for their Sangiovese is the kind of honest, no-drama pricing that makes you want to order a second glass. It's the entry point to the reds that actually delivers.
Bianco di Morgante Nero d'Avola
Most people think Nero d'Avola only comes in red — and they'd order something safer if they saw this. That's their loss. Morgante's white Nero d'Avola is a genuinely unusual Sicilian bottling that rewards curiosity and stands up to bold, spiced food.
Far Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
At $90 a bottle, it's the priciest pour on a 14-bottle list and Far Mountain isn't a name that justifies the premium on its own. The Treana Cab at $60 does the California Cabernet job fine and saves you $30.
Anselmo Mendes Albariño + Latin-style seafood small plates
Albariño was basically engineered to drink alongside coastal, citrus-bright seafood dishes. Anselmo Mendes is one of the best Vinho Verde producers working today, and at $52 a bottle it's the move if the kitchen is putting fish or shellfish on the table.
The Bottom Line
Our Paladar's wine list is a small, well-edited card that takes its cues from the food and doesn't overstay its welcome. For Rochester, this is legitimately exciting — come for the small plates, stay because the Nebbiolo is actually on the menu.

Bleu Duck Kitchen isn't a wine destination, but it's doing more with its list than most restaurants in its zip code — and that Tuesday dinner-plus-bottle deal is legitimately one of the better mid-week moves in Rochester.
