Wingman Metrics
The wine list at North Italia Gilbert reads like a chain that genuinely cares more than it has to. Fifty labels with 46 by-the-glass options is an ambitious commitment for a suburban Italian spot, and the pricing — mostly $42–$70 a bottle — stays in a range that won't make you do math at the table. It's not going to win any awards for daring, but the intent is there.
The white wine section is where North Italia earns its keep. You've got solid Italian representation with the Feudo Montoni Timpa Grillo, Villa Matilde Greco di Tufo, and Pala Soprasole Vermentino — actual Italian regional grapes, not just Pinot Grigio on repeat. There's also a Loosen Bros. Dr. L Riesling for the crowd that wants something aromatic and off-dry, and a Gary Farrell Chardonnay anchoring the California end. The reds and sparkling are thinner on detail in our data, but the Cleto Chiarli Brut de Noir Sparkling Rosé is a smart addition that most chains wouldn't bother with. The inclusion of two non-alcoholic options — Zonin Cuvèe Zero Prosecco and Miguel Torres Serena — is a nice gesture toward a sober-curious crowd.
Forty-six by-the-glass options is a lot — and we mean that as a genuine compliment. Most of the bottle list appears to pour by the glass, which means you can explore the Vermentino or the Greco di Tufo without committing to a full bottle. Glass pours run $8–$17.50, which keeps things accessible. The Red Sangria at $12.50 is clearly there to satisfy the table that can't agree on anything.
Feudo Montoni Grillo 'Timpa' — $42
The cheapest bottle on the list is also one of the most interesting — a Sicilian Grillo from a respected small producer. At $42, you're getting a wine that would retail around $15–18, so the markup is fair and the grape itself is worth knowing. Crisp, mineral, genuinely Italian.
Villa Matilde Greco di Tufo
Greco di Tufo is one of southern Italy's great white grapes and almost nobody orders it because nobody recognizes it. Villa Matilde is a solid Campanian producer, and this bottle at $48 is the kind of thing you'd feel good about finishing. Skip the Pinot Grigio and order this instead.
Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc
At $62, it's the priciest white on the list, and Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc is widely available retail for $20–22. The markup here is noticeably steeper than the rest of the list, and there are more interesting bottles at lower prices. Hard to justify when the Vavasour from New Zealand is $12 cheaper and arguably more expressive.
Pala Soprasole Vermentino + Wood-Roasted Salmon
Vermentino has the right herbal brightness and citrus edge to cut through roasted fish without fighting it. The Soprasole is Sardinian, which means it's built for seafood by geography if nothing else. At $46, it's one of the smarter picks on the list for anything coming out of the wood oven.
The Bottom Line
North Italia Gilbert is a chain that does the bare minimum of interesting things — and sometimes that's exactly what you need on a Tuesday in Gilbert. The Italian regional whites are the real reason to open this list; everything else is serviceable.

The board-and-bottle deal after 8 PM — bruschetta plus a bottle for $25 — is one of the better wine-night setups in the East Valley, full stop. If you live nearby and aren't already going on Mondays or Tuesdays, you're leaving money on the table.

The Sicilian Baker is a bakery café that accidentally built a wine list worth paying attention to — lean on the Italian selections, ignore the California filler, and let the Fiano or Grillo do the talking. We'd send a friend here for a glass and a pastry without hesitation.

Fleming's is the reliable wine friend who always shows up with a solid California Cab — not surprising, not cheap, but never wrong. If you're after a safe, well-executed wine experience with a great steak, this delivers. Just don't come looking for discovery.

BJ's Gilbert is a beer destination that happens to sell wine, and the list reflects exactly that level of effort. Come for the craft brews and the Pizookie — but if Wednesday rolls around and you want a glass of Cab with your deep dish, the half-price deal makes it a perfectly acceptable call.

The Cheesecake Factory is a perfectly fine place to eat — the wine list just isn't a reason to go. Order a cocktail, split a bottle of Santa Margherita if you must, and save your wine curiosity for somewhere that earned it.

The Brass Tap is a genuinely fun beer bar, and if you're ordering wine here, you've made a category error. Stick to the taps — that's what this place is built for.

Nob Hill · San Francisco · Italian
Seven Hills is doing something most Italian restaurants in this city won't — building a wine list that actually reflects the breadth of Italian winemaking rather than the highlights reel. If you're even mildly curious about obscure Italian whites, this is one of the better places in SF to take the leap.

Roma has enough wine on the list to get you through a good dinner, but it leans hard on California crowd-pleasers and marks them up accordingly. Stick to the Italian reds, avoid the Napa trophies, and you'll drink well enough — just don't expect the list to match the ambition of the cuisine.

GP's Hamilton Park isn't a destination wine list, but it's a fair one — honest prices, approachable options, and a by-the-glass program that covers the table without drama. Send your friend here if they want a solid neighborhood pour, not a wine education.
