Two hundred and two dollars for a Robert Mondavi Fumé Blanc is a hard sell. This is grocery-store-tier name recognition priced like a trophy wine — the Groth Estate Sauvignon Blanc at $188 at least comes from a single estate. Neither is a bargain, but the Mondavi at $202 is the bigger head-scratcher.
Merry Edwards Sauvignon Blanc 2021 + Grilled Seafood or Scallops
Merry Edwards' Russian River Sauvignon Blanc is rounder and more textured than your typical Napa SB — it's got enough body to stand up to a butter-finished seafood dish without getting lost. At a steakhouse that likely offers scallops or seafood starters, this is the white wine move.
