Wingman Metrics
Walking into Messina Hof Grapevine feels like someone took a Texas winery and dropped it right onto a charming Main Street block β rustic wood, wine barrels, the whole bit. The list is compact and entirely house-made, which either excites you or sends you scrambling for a cocktail menu. We land firmly in the excited camp.
This is a single-producer list β every bottle is Messina Hof, full stop β so if you came hoping to bounce between a Burgundy and a Barolo, you're in the wrong zip code. What you do get is a surprisingly thoughtful range of Texas expressions: a late harvest Riesling that shows real restraint, a Primitivo that leans into the warm-climate fruit without going jammy and stupid, and a Port-style dessert wine that earns its keep. The Barrel Reserve Cabernet is the anchor of the red side and holds its own against what you'd expect at this price point. Depth is limited by design, but within that lane, the execution is solid.
With 15-25 pours available at $8β$16, the by-the-glass program is genuinely generous for a tasting room format. You can effectively build your own flight by just ordering glasses across styles β that's not a bug, it's the point of being here. Rotation appears limited since everything is house wine, but the breadth of styles means you're not stuck choosing between two Cabs.
Messina Hof RosΓ© β $10
At the low end of the glass price range and a crowd-pleaser that doesn't condescend β clean, food-friendly, and right for the vibe of this room.
Messina Hof Primitivo
Most people beeline for the Cab, but the Primitivo is where Messina Hof shows some personality β warm Texas growing conditions actually suit this variety, and it's got more character than its shelf placement suggests.
Messina Hof Papa Paulo Port
Not because it's bad β it's actually decent β but ordering a Port at a tasting room table when you could be exploring savory pours feels like ordering dessert before the appetizer. Save it for last, or skip it entirely unless you specifically came for dessert wine.
Messina Hof Angel Late Harvest Riesling + Cheese and charcuterie platter
The residual sweetness in the Riesling cuts right through the salt and fat of cured meats and aged cheeses β it's the classic sweet-savory tension that makes both better. One of the few no-brainer pairings on a menu this focused.
π² The Bottom Line
Messina Hof Grapevine is a single-producer tasting room, and if you walk in knowing that, you'll have a great time β the wines are genuinely well-made for Texas, the staff know their product cold, and the prices won't hurt you. Send a friend here if they want a Texas wine experience that doesn't feel like a tourist trap.

Farina's is the Wild Card badge in action β a charming, Texas-proud wine bar that sneaks in a Mosel Riesling and a Chilean Sauvignon Blanc between the house blends and live music. It's not trying to be a serious wine destination, but it earns more respect than it asks for.

If you're anywhere near Grapevine and curious about what Texas wine actually tastes like β not what the label says, but what the land produces β Delaney's barrel room is the honest answer. It's not a restaurant wine list, it's better: it's the source.

Messina Hof Grapevine isn't trying to compete with a full-service wine bar β it's a focused, honest showcase of what Texas grapes can do, priced fairly enough that you can actually explore. If you're already walking Main Street, ducking in for the Lepard Vineyard Chenin Blanc is a no-regrets detour.
