The wine list at Maya Bistro is short β we're talking one page, maybe less β but it earns points immediately for leaning into Turkish producers when every other casual Mediterranean spot in Northern Virginia is just cycling through the same California suspects. It's a list with a point of view, even if that view doesn't stretch very far.
The list is anchored by Angora, a Turkish producer that most Arlington diners have never encountered, which is either charming or baffling depending on your mood. Beyond that, there's a nod to New Zealand via Oyster Bay and a handful of other crowd-friendly options that keep things accessible. The geographic range is narrow β Turkey, the Mediterranean, and a Marlborough cameo β but the intention to highlight Turkish wine in a Turkish restaurant is something we respect. The gaps are real though: no serious reds, no natural wine flirtation, and the bottle count tops out well short of 40.
Six to ten options by the glass is respectable for a restaurant this size, and the Turkish pours are where the action is. The happy hour glass price of $6 for Angora Red and Angora White is genuinely compelling β you're drinking something interesting and regional for the price of a mediocre beer. Rotation doesn't appear to be a priority here, so don't expect surprises week to week.
Angora Red (Turkey) β Happy Hour β $6/glass
At $6 a glass during happy hour, this Turkish red is essentially at retail price, making it a rare case where the restaurant isn't gouging you on the interesting stuff. It's the most honest pour on the list.
Angora White (Turkey)
Most tables will default to the Oyster Bay without a second thought, but the Angora White is the more interesting call β Turkish white wine is genuinely underrepresented in the D.C. area and this is a low-stakes way to explore it alongside the mezze.
Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough
At $40 a bottle for something that retails around $10, you're paying a 300% markup on a wine you can grab at any grocery store in America. It's not a bad wine β it's just a bad deal, and there's no reason to order it here when the Turkish options exist.
Angora White (Turkey) + Traditional Turkish Breakfast Platter
The bright, clean character of the Angora White cuts right through the salty cheeses and olive oil that anchor the Turkish breakfast spread. It's a lighter pour that doesn't fight the food β it just makes the whole thing feel more intentional.
Monday β Every Monday, all wine bottles are half price β no exclusions specified. One of the better weekly wine deals in Arlington.
π² The Bottom Line
Maya Bistro isn't a wine destination, but Monday half-price bottles and legitimately interesting Turkish pours make it a Wild Card worth knowing about. Come for the pide, stay for the Angora β just don't touch the Oyster Bay.
Shirlington Β· Arlington Β· American Brasserie
Carlyle won't change your relationship with wine, but it won't ruin it either β and on Tuesday, when everything on the bottle list is half off, it briefly becomes one of the better deals in Shirlington. Come for the prime rib, order the Jordan, and call it a good night.

Ballston Β· Arlington Β· New Englandβinspired seafood & raw bar
Salt Line Ballston isn't trying to be a wine destination, but the list is smarter and more purposeful than most seafood spots in this price range. Send a friend here for oysters and Muscadet and they'll thank you.

National Landing / Pentagon City Β· Arlington Β· Southern & Korean-influenced American
Succotash Prime's wine list is exactly what you'd expect from a polished upscale Southern spot in a hotel-adjacent dining corridor β safe, recognizable, and priced for expense accounts. We'd send a friend here for a reliable night out, not a wine destination.

National Landing / Crystal City Β· Arlington Β· Modern Italian
Corso is a dependable Italian wine list in a neighborhood that could easily get away with doing much less β it doesn't dazzle, but it doesn't disappoint either. If the Wednesday half-price bottle rumor holds up when you call ahead, it might just tip into genuinely great value territory.

Clarendon Β· Arlington Β· Retail Wine & Takeout
Liberty To-Go is a genuine wild card β a tavern wine shop hybrid with a fortified wine section that would embarrass most dedicated wine bars, all priced without the usual Arlington markup. Come for the Barolo, stay for the Sherry flight you didn't know you needed.

Clarendon Β· Arlington Β· Balkan small plates
Ambar Rooftop isn't a wine destination in the traditional sense, but it's doing something genuinely rare: putting Balkan wine on the table in a way that makes you want to learn more. If you're even a little curious about what's growing in Macedonia, Montenegro, or Croatia, this is your easiest entry point in Northern Virginia.
