Wingman Metrics
Over 100 labels at an upscale Italian spot in Fort Myers is a serious opening move — this isn't the kind of list that got copy-pasted from a distributor catalog and forgotten. The range runs from approachable Italian pours to heavy-hitting Napa cult wines, which tells you exactly who this restaurant is trying to impress.
Mastello leans into the Italian-California axis hard, with credible representation from Italy alongside Napa Valley, Paso Robles, and Willamette Valley rounding out the American side. The headline names — Insignia Joseph Phelps, Timeless by Silver Oak, Caymus Cabernet — read like a greatest hits of the expense-account crowd, which is fine, but the list skews heavily toward crowd pleasers rather than anything that would surprise a serious wine drinker. There are no glaring gaps on the red side, but we'd love to see more depth in Italian whites — Vermentino, Fiano, or Etna Bianco would sharpen the identity. Still, for Fort Myers, this is one of the stronger lists in the market.
At least nine options by the glass priced $10–$17 is a reasonable spread for a place at this level — enough to work with across a full dinner without being forced into a bottle. The Laurent Perrier Brut and Ferrari Sparkling Rosé Brut on the bubbly side are solid choices to open with. We'd want to know how often the glass list rotates, but the static feel of the program suggests it doesn't change much.
Ferrari Sparkling Rosé Brut — $17
Ferrari is criminally underrated as an Italian sparkling producer, and at $17 a glass this Trentodoc rosé punches well above its price point — far more interesting than reflexively ordering Champagne.
Laurent Perrier Brut Champagne
Most tables here will order a California red and never look back, which means the Laurent Perrier often gets overlooked. It's a proper grower-adjacent grande marque that sets the tone for the whole meal better than anything else on the opening pages.
Caymus Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
Caymus is fine wine — it's just been marked up to the moon at every restaurant in America that knows their clientele will order it on name recognition alone. You're paying a premium for familiarity here, not quality you can't find elsewhere on this list.
Timeless by Silver Oak Napa Valley + Bistecca or a grilled Italian-cut steak
Timeless is a structured, full-bodied red blend built for exactly this moment — a big slab of grilled beef with char and fat to stand up to all that Napa oak and dark fruit.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Mastello is doing more with wine than most Italian restaurants in Southwest Florida, and the 100-plus label list earns genuine respect — just go in knowing the markups on the celebrity Napa names are working harder than the wine itself. Send a friend here if they want a proper wine dinner; just steer them away from the obvious choices.
Downtown River District · Fort Myers · Japanese, Sushi
Blu Sushi Downtown isn't a wine destination, but it's a perfectly functional place to have a decent glass while eating good rolls in a fun room. Send your friend here for a night out — just tell them to skip the Rombauer.

Mori Sushi & Grill isn't the place you go for a wine adventure, but the list is priced fairly and the Sauvignon Blancs do real work alongside the food. Grab a glass of Nobilo, order the sashimi, and don't overthink it.

Two Meatballs isn't a wine destination, but the Italian backbone of the list is honest and the pricing is fair enough that you won't feel robbed. Order the Barbera, get the baked ziti, and let the chaos of the dining room do the rest.

Non Chalance has all the right intentions — a chill wine bar vibe with small plates in a neighborhood that needed it — but the list leans hard on low-cost, high-markup retail staples that don't hold up under scrutiny. Come for the atmosphere, but go easy on the bottle orders.

Beacon Social Drinkery is a genuinely fun place to watch the sun go down — just don't come here expecting the wine list to match the altitude. Order a cocktail, enjoy the view, and if you must have wine, the Crios Rosé is your move.

The Silver King won't blow your mind, but it won't embarrass you either — and for a hotel restaurant in Fort Myers, that's a genuine win. Take the Leflaive, skip the Rombauer, and enjoy the river view.

West Toledo / Reynolds Corner · Toledo · Italian
There's one reason to come here for wine: Thursday. Half-price bottles on a standing weekly basis is a genuinely good deal, especially on the Santa Margherita. Any other night, the markups are steep and the list doesn't justify them.

Carrabba's Toledo isn't a destination for wine — but it's not an embarrassment either. The Ruffino Chianti Classico alone earns its keep, and if you stick to the Italian side of the list, you'll drink reasonably well without drama.

Marisi is a reliable Italian wine list with genuine ambition hiding behind a steep markup structure — the producers are right, the regions are right, but you'll pay for the privilege. Go for the Produttori Barbaresco and the Pre-Phylloxera Barbera, and you'll leave satisfied.
