Wingman Metrics
Walking into Mason Bar & Kitchen, the wine list reads like a love letter to the Central Coast — and honestly, that's the right call. This is Arroyo Grande, not Beverly Hills, and the list knows its audience without dumbing itself down. The Wine Spectator Award of Excellence (held since 2020) signals that someone here is paying attention.
The list leans hard into California, which makes total geographic sense given the restaurant sits in the middle of some of the state's most underrated wine country. Talley Vineyards, Laetitia, Tolosa, Ancient Peaks, and Edna Valley Vineyard are all represented — a tight but credible roster of Edna Valley and Arroyo Grande Valley producers that most wine drinkers outside the 805 have never heard of. Don't expect a globe-trotting selection with Burgundy and Barolo tucked in; this is a focused California program, and the depth comes from knowing the region rather than casting a wide net. The gap is anything outside California — if you're in the mood for something Old World, you may be left wanting.
We don't have an exact count on the by-the-glass program, but given the producer lineup and the casual-festive vibe, expect a solid handful of pours rotating through the local roster. The real play here is leaning into the Edna Valley whites — if Tolosa or Laetitia Chardonnay shows up by the glass, that's your move with the oysters or lobster bisque.
Ancient Peaks Winery — null
Ancient Peaks consistently overdelivers for what it charges — their Margarita Vineyard fruit punches well above its price tier, and in a restaurant setting it's typically priced where you don't wince ordering a second bottle.
Laetitia Vineyard & Winery
Laetitia doesn't get the recognition it deserves outside of San Luis Obispo County. Their Pinot Noir from the Arroyo Grande Valley is the real deal — cool-climate, restrained, nothing like the fruit bombs people expect from California. Most tables will walk past it. Don't.
Edna Valley Vineyard
Edna Valley Vineyard is the most tourist-facing label on the list — widely distributed, easy to find at any grocery store near the freeway, and rarely the best representation of what the appellation can do. There are better options from the same zip code on this very list.
Talley Vineyards Chardonnay + Lobster Bisque
Talley's Chardonnay has enough texture and subtle oak to hold up against a rich, creamy bisque without getting swallowed by it — and the shared Central Coast terroir makes it feel like the wine and the dish were always meant to be in the same bowl.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Mason Bar and Kitchen is the kind of neighborhood spot that quietly does wine right — local producers, fair prices, and a list that reflects where it actually sits in the world. If you're passing through the Central Coast and want a genuine taste of the region in your glass, this is a reliable stop.
Shoreline Village · Long Beach · Seafood, Steakhouse
Queensview earns its Wine Spectator badge by doing the California steakhouse formula well — the setting is legitimately stunning, the list is reliable, and the Daou is a genuine steal in this context. Just don't come expecting anything that'll surprise you.

Plateau is the kind of place that surprises you — a polished wine program with two named sommeliers, genuine Pacific Northwest depth, and cult producers you don't expect to find east of the Cascades. If you're passing through Pendleton, this is absolutely worth a stop for the wine alone.
