Wingman Metrics
148 labels at an Italian restaurant in Lincoln, Nebraska is not what you're expecting — and that's the whole point. This list opens with Kerner from Alto Adige and Greco di Tufo from Campania before most lists in much larger cities would even consider leaving Pinot Grigio territory. Someone here cares, and it shows immediately.
The list leans hard into Italy — correctly — but doesn't use that as an excuse to get lazy. You've got Fontodi Chianti Classico 2021 and Vietti Castiglioni Barolo 2021 anchoring the reds with credibility, while the whites span from a Pacher Hof Kerner (a grape most diners have never heard of) to a San Salvatore Fiano from Paestum. The Gaja RossJ-Bass at $172 is the splurge flex, and the Altesino Brunello at $105 is genuinely competitive pricing for that producer and vintage. There are gaps — the French presence is thin beyond the Riffault Sancerre and a Rully from Michael Briday — but for a list that's this Italy-focused, that's a feature, not a bug.
Twenty-four by-the-glass options is a serious commitment, and the range doesn't embarrass itself. You can pour a G.D. Vajra Nebbiolo Rosé for $19 or step into the Castello della Sala Bramito Chardonnay for $22 — that's legitimate depth for a pour program. The floor starts at $18 with options like the I Ottella Lugana and the Tenuta Regaleali Grillo, which is fair entry pricing for this caliber of list.
The Bottom Line
Lincoln Ristorante is doing something genuinely unusual: running a wine list in central Nebraska that would hold its own in most major American cities. The Italian focus is deep and well-curated, the by-the-glass program gives you real options, and the pricing — particularly on the reds — is fair enough that you won't feel punished for ordering well. If you're in Lincoln and you care about wine, this is the only room that answers that call.

Il Tavolo isn't trying to be a wine destination, and that's fine — it's a reliable Italian spot with fair pours, sensible pricing, and enough range to keep the table happy. If you're in Jersey City and want a glass of Chianti that won't cost you a car payment, this is a safe and honest bet.

Sorellina has done something genuinely weird here — built an all-dessert-wine list and committed to it fully, with enough range and producer credibility to make it worth taking seriously. If you are coming here expecting a broad Italian bottle list to drink through dinner, adjust your expectations before you walk in. But if you want to spend an evening exploring Italian sweet wines poured by the glass at prices that do not insult you, this is one of the more interesting niche programs in the area.

Sant Ambroeus Palm Beach is a reliable, if unambitious, wine experience — Italy and France, done cleanly, priced for Royal Poinciana Way. If you're here for the scene, the truffle pizza, and a glass of something Italian and uncomplicated, it delivers. Just don't come looking for value or discovery.
