Eight wines. That's it. And somehow, Jane Doe — a cocktail bar in Jersey City — makes every single one count. This isn't a wine list built by habit; it reads like someone actually cared, stocking skin-contact, Italian bubbles, and a Chilean rosado instead of defaulting to Meiomi and a generic Pinot Grigio.
The list punches well above its size. Italy does the heavy lifting — Chianti from Torre Alle Tolfe, a Valdobbiadene Prosecco from Mongarda, Trebbiano from Biancofongoli, and a Barone Cornacchia from Abruzzo anchor the program with real regionality. The Birichino Malvasia is the wildcard of the wildcards: a California skin-contact orange from a producer that consistently overdelivers. Deep Down Sauvignon Blanc and Pielihueso Rosado round out the Southern Hemisphere presence, keeping things global without feeling scattered. The one honest gap is depth — there's no bottle list to speak of, so if you're looking to linger over a second or third pour, you're working within a tight rotation.
Everything on the list is by the glass, which is the whole game here. At $15–$18 a pour, prices are reasonable for Jersey City and downright civilized compared to what you'd pay across the Hudson. Eight options covering white, red, rosé, orange, and bubbles means you can drink your way around the world in one sitting without breaking $80.
Barone Cornacchia Casanova 2025 — $15
The cheapest pour on the list and it's from one of Abruzzo's most dependable producers. Barone Cornacchia has been making honest, food-friendly wine for decades — getting it at $15 a glass at a cocktail bar is a minor miracle.
Birichino Malvasia 2022
Most people at a cocktail bar are going to order the Sauvignon Blanc or the Chianti. Skip the crowd and go for the Birichino Malvasia — it's an amber-hued skin-contact wine from Santa Cruz that drinks with more complexity and texture than anything else on this list. Birichino is a cult producer for a reason, and it rarely shows up at places like this.
Deep Down Sauvignon Blanc 2023
Nothing wrong with it, but on a list this interesting, ordering a Sauvignon Blanc feels like a wasted opportunity. It's the safe pick on a list that's begging you not to play it safe.
Mongarda Valdobbiadene Prosecco 2021 + Bar snacks or charcuterie
Mongarda's Valdobbiadene is drier and more mineral than the Prosecco you're used to — it cuts through fat and salt beautifully, making it the perfect opening move with anything cured or fried that Jane Doe puts in front of you.
The Bottom Line
Jane Doe is a cocktail bar that quietly assembled a better wine list than most actual restaurants in the area. If you're in Jersey City and someone tells you to skip the wine here, they haven't seen the list.

Markups get aggressive at the top, and the Caymus pricing is frankly embarrassing, but if you stick to the Italian core and the smart mid-range picks, you'll drink well here.

Madame JC isn't a wine destination — it's a cocktail bar that happens to have one of the most focused and genuinely well-chosen dessert wine lists in Jersey City. Show up after dinner, order the 20-Year Tawny, and thank whoever put this menu together.

Prices are fair, the whole list pours by the glass, and two genuinely weird options make this worth more than a passing glance.
