Wingman Metrics
Two hundred and fifty-plus bottles at a hotel restaurant in Fairport — that's not what you expect when you pull into a spa parking lot. The list skews toward accessible crowd-pleasers but has enough regional depth, especially in Finger Lakes, to make you stop and actually read it. The view from the dining room does a lot of heavy lifting, but the wine list holds its own.
The Finger Lakes section is the real reason to be here — Lamoreaux Landing and Forge Cellars 'Classique' Riesling on the same list signals that someone is paying attention to what's growing two hours south. Beyond the locals, there's a reasonable sweep of Burgundy (Louis Jadot Macon-Villages), Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, and Napa Cab, though the international reach leans heavily on recognizable brand names rather than small producers. Italy shows up with Villa Pozzi Pinot Grigio, which is fine but safe. The list is built to reassure, not to challenge — and for a hotel wine bar in Rochester, that's a defensible call.
Fourteen-plus pours ranging from $8 to $17 is a solid spread for this market, and the fact that both Lamoreaux Landing and Forge Cellars make the cut by the glass is genuinely good news. Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc and Textbook Cab are doing the volume work, which is expected, but at least the list gives curious drinkers a local option worth pursuing.
Louis Jadot Macon-Villages 2020 — $17
Jadot's Macon-Villages is reliable Burgundy Chardonnay at a price that doesn't punish you for ordering it by the glass — clean, food-friendly, and a noticeable step above the usual hotel Chardonnay default.
Forge Cellars 'Classique' Riesling 2017
Forge Cellars is one of the Finger Lakes' most serious producers, and the 'Classique' is their entry point into dry Riesling done right. Most tables here will walk right past it in favor of something they recognize — don't be that table.
Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc
Fine wine, fine producer, but you can buy this at any grocery store for a fraction of what a restaurant charges. Save your glass pour budget for the Finger Lakes bottles you can't grab at Wegmans.
Lamoreaux Landing Semi-Dry Riesling 2018 + Pan-seared fish or lighter seafood from the refined American menu
The residual sweetness in Lamoreaux's Semi-Dry Riesling cuts through rich butter sauces while the Finger Lakes acidity keeps things bright — exactly what you want with delicate proteins, and it's a story you can tell about the region while you eat.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Horizons earns its keep as the best wine list you're likely to find with this zip code and this view — the Finger Lakes selections alone justify the stop. Not a destination wine program, but a dependable one that respects both the region and your wallet.
Village Gate / NOTA · Rochester · Farm-to-Table / New American
Lento isn't trying to be a wine destination, but its list is thoughtful enough that it kind of becomes one by accident — especially if you care about Finger Lakes wines in their natural habitat. Send your friends here, let them order the Duck Confit, and point them toward the Cab Franc.

Pittsford Plaza · Rochester · Sushi and Japanese-inspired contemporary dining
Next Door is a Wild Card in the best sense: a grocery chain's restaurant with genuine wine ambition and a beverage program that earns more than a dismissive eye-roll. The markups will sting and the by-the-glass program needs more visibility, but the bones are here — and the wine pairing dinners featuring Château d'Yquem prove someone in the building actually cares.
