There is no wine list to peruse in the traditional sense — Hiyu hands you an experience. Flights are curated, menus are seasonal, and the whole thing feels less like a restaurant wine program and more like a manifesto about how wine and food should coexist. If you came looking for a familiar Willamette Pinot or a safe Napa Cab, you are absolutely in the wrong place.
Hiyu operates two distinct wine identities under one roof. The Smockshop Band label — bottles ranging from $30 to $42 — leans experimental and approachable, drawing from the Columbia Gorge AVA with the kind of restless energy you expect from a farm that treats viticulture as ongoing research. The estate Hiyu label climbs to $75–$95 a bottle and represents the more serious, terroir-driven side of what winemaker Nate Ready is doing out here. Grower Champagne also makes appearances in the flights, which tells you everything about the ambition level. The gaps are real — you won't find Old World depth or a broad international selection — but that's not the point. This list exists to show you one very specific, very considered corner of the wine world.
Traditional by-the-glass ordering isn't really how Hiyu works. Flights are the entry point: a six-wine Smockshop Band flight and a four-wine Hiyu estate flight, priced at $25–$65 respectively. It's a format that rewards curiosity and punishes anyone who just wants a quick glass of something familiar before the food arrives.
Smockshop Band 6-Wine Flight — $25
Six pours of genuinely interesting Columbia Gorge wines at a price that would barely cover two glasses of something mediocre at a downtown restaurant. The Smockshop Band bottles retail in the $30–$42 range, so you're essentially getting a guided education at a steep discount. Start here.
Tzum Atavus Columbia Gorge Red Wine 2017
A name that most tables will skip right past without a second look — 'Tzum Atavus' doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. But this Columbia Gorge red is a window into what Hiyu does when it's really reaching, and it's the kind of bottle that rewards the guest willing to ask a question instead of defaulting to something they already know.
Hiyu Estate Bottle at $95
Not because it's bad — it's almost certainly not — but at $95 for a bottle of estate wine in a tasting room context, you're paying full freight on something you've never heard of. The Hiyu estate flight at a fraction of the cost gets you the same exploration without the commitment. Save the $95 bottle for a second visit when you know what you're buying.
Hiyu Estate Wine Flight + Seven-Course Dinner Feast
The four-wine estate flight is essentially designed to move alongside the dinner feast — both are built around the same farm, the same season, and the same obsessive attention to what's growing on the property right now. Ordering them separately would be like watching a movie with the sound off.

Hiyu is not a restaurant with a wine list — it's a wine farm that happens to feed you extraordinarily well, and the whole thing is built around a vision of place that very few operations anywhere in the country can match. Send your most adventurous friend here immediately, and tell them to clear their afternoon.

3 Rivers Grill is a genuinely solid wine destination for a mid-sized grill in Hood River — the Pacific Northwest selections are legit, the view earns its own tip, and a few bottles here are worth making a reservation for specifically. The markups on trophy bottles will make you wince, but stick to the regional lineup and you'll leave happy.

Sakura Ridge isn't a wine destination — it's a lodge that happens to have a small, surprisingly honest wine list for guests who want something worth drinking with their orchard views. If you're staying here, lean into it; if you're driving out just for wine, the Columbia Gorge has better options nearby.

Henni's is a genuine surprise — a chef-driven neighborhood spot in a small Washington town that built a wine list with actual intention. If you're passing through the Gorge and think wine stops at Hood River, White Salmon has an argument to make.
