The name is Epernay — as in the capital of Champagne — and the list delivers exactly on that promise: ten labels, every single one a sparkling wine. This is not a wine list with a Champagne section; this is a Champagne list, full stop. It's a bold, niche move that either wins you over immediately or sends you reaching for the cocktail menu.
The list splits cleanly between Grande Marque Champagne and accessible sparkling alternatives. On the prestige end, you've got Pol Roger Brut Reserve, Billecart-Salmon in both Brut and Rosé, Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut, and Ruinart Brut Rosé — legitimate heavy hitters. The value tier is where it gets interesting: Lucien Albrecht Crémant d'Alsace Brut Rosé and Maison de Bellen Bellenos Crémant de Bourgogne bring real French sparkling credibility at fraction-of-Champagne prices, while Chandon and Gloria Ferrer cover the domestic flank. Maison de Bellen Bellenos Crémant de Bourgogne
Crémant de Bourgogne uses the same grapes as top Burgundy fizz but flies under most diners' radar. At $85 a bottle, this is a proper conversation piece that most tables will skip in favor of a recognizable Champagne label — their loss.
Ruinart Brut Rosé
Ruinart is a legitimately great house, but at $260 on this list the markup is doing heavy lifting. You can find this bottle at retail for around $90-$100. If you're feeling flush, put that money toward two bottles of the Crémant instead and come out ahead on both volume and value.
Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé + Steak Frites
Rosé Champagne with red fruit backbone and enough acidity to cut through the richness of a properly buttered bistro steak frites is a classic French move. Billecart's Brut Rosé has the structure to hold up — it's not just a pretty pink drink.
The Bottom Line
Epernay Bistro is the rare spot that commits completely to a single vision — all sparkling, all the time — and mostly pulls it off. The Grande Marque markups sting, but the Crémant picks and flexible pour sizes make this a legit destination for anyone who thinks bubbles shouldn't be saved for special occasions.
