Eight hundred and sixty-one selections. In Aspen. At a restaurant that also serves Mediterranean seafood and house-made pasta. The list lands like a serious declaration of intent — this isn't a wine program assembled to fill a page, it's one built by people who actually care what's in your glass.
The backbone is Burgundy and Piedmont, anchored by names like Bartolo Mascarello in Barolo and Domaine Leflaive across multiple Puligny cuvées including Clavoillon — this is a cellar with genuine depth, not just trophy labels. Italy gets serious love beyond the obvious, with Tenuta delle Terre Nere's Etna Rosso 2023 representing the kind of adventurous sourcing you don't expect at altitude in Colorado. The Northern Rhône shows up strong via Alain Voge's 2016 Cornas, and Austria earns its seat with Knoll's Ried Trum Federspiel Grüner Veltliner 2023 from the Wachau. In a room full of big Burgundy and Barolo markups, this is the bottle we'd be pointing at first.
Knoll Ried Trum Federspiel Grüner Veltliner 2023
Most tables at Duemani are going to order Burgundy or Barolo, and we get it. But this Wachau Grüner from one of the Danube's most meticulous producers is the kind of white that stops a conversation mid-sentence. White pepper, citrus pith, and a stony finish that goes with basically anything coming out of the kitchen.
Ornellaia
It's a great wine. It's also one of the most marked-up bottles on every upscale restaurant list in America. In a cellar with this much depth and personality, spending big on Ornellaia feels like driving to Paris and eating at McDonald's. Find something more interesting here.
Alain Voge Cornas 2016 + Steak
A Northern Rhône Syrah with eight years of age on it meets a proper steak exactly where you want it — the wine's dark olive, cured meat, and black fruit notes mirror the char on the beef without fighting it. This is the kind of pairing that makes you put your fork down and think for a second.

Duemani is the real thing — a legitimately serious wine list in a ski town that could easily get away with charging resort prices for mediocre bottles. Steep markups are a reality of the Aspen zip code, but the depth and curation here make it worth the splurge if you're choosing where to drop serious wine money on the mountain.
