Walking into Dancing Fox feels like stumbling into someone's very well-stocked family cellar — in the best way. The list is tight and almost entirely house-made, which in most places would be a red flag, but here it's the whole point. This is a winery that actually believes in what it's pouring.
The list runs 20-40 bottles deep and stays firmly planted in Lodi's own backyard — no globetrotting, no hedging with imports to fill gaps. Dancing Fox leans hard into the region's strengths: big, sun-baked reds and structured whites that Lodi does better than most people give it credit for. The Dancing Fox Estate Zinfandel anchors the red side, the Petite Sirah gives the list some muscle, and the Chardonnay rounds things out for white drinkers who showed up with someone who doesn't do reds. It's not a list that will impress your Burgundy-obsessed friend, but it's honest, focused, and priced like they actually want you to order a second bottle.
With 10-20 options by the glass, Dancing Fox punches well above its weight for a small winery operation — most pour maybe five. Dancing Fox Petite Sirah
Most people glaze over Petite Sirah on any list, but Lodi grows it with real depth and density. This one rewards the curious drinker who ignores the Zin for a round.
Dancing Fox Chardonnay
California Chardonnay from a Zinfandel-country winery is often an afterthought, and without more detail on this one, it reads like the list item that exists for guests who said 'I don't drink red wine.' There are better ways to spend your glass pour.
