First Impression
Tucked inside a Temecula golf resort, Corkfire Kitchen is the kind of place you might overlook โ and that would be a mistake. The wine list skews confidently California, which makes sense given you're sitting in one of Southern California's most underrated wine regions. It's not trying to be a wine bar, but it's clearly not phoning it in either.
Selection Deep Dive
The list runs 75 to 150 bottles deep and keeps its focus tight: this is California wine country, and the program leans into that identity hard. You've got the expected hits โ Jordan Cab, Rombauer Chard, Stag's Leap, Duckhorn Merlot โ alongside genuine local pride from Temecula Valley producers like Leoness Cellars and South Coast Winery. DAOU Vineyards rounds out the Paso Robles contingent nicely. There's no deep Old World bench here and no natural wine rabbit hole to fall down, but the producers on the list are well-chosen and the regional focus feels intentional rather than lazy.
By the Glass
Twelve to twenty options by the glass puts Corkfire in solid territory โ that's enough range to let you explore without getting overwhelmed. Prices run $12 to $18, which is reasonable for a sit-down dinner in wine country. We'd love to see more rotation tied to the seasonal menu, but what's here covers the bases.
DAOU Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon โ $40-$50
DAOU punches well above its price point โ it's a Paso Robles Cab with real structure and depth that often runs $60+ at restaurants. Getting it at the lower end of Corkfire's bottle range is a genuine win.
Leoness Cellars
Most guests reach for the Jordan or the Rombauer out of habit, but Leoness Cellars is a Temecula Valley producer worth your attention. You're in their backyard โ drink local and you'll likely surprise yourself.
Rombauer Vineyards Chardonnay
Rombauer is fine, but it's also on every restaurant list in California and usually marked up to the point where you're paying a premium for familiarity. Save your money for something you can't get at the steakhouse back home.
Duckhorn Vineyards Merlot + Burrata
Duckhorn's Merlot has enough fruit-forward softness and low tannin grip to sit alongside burrata without overwhelming it โ the wine's plummy richness echoes a drizzle of good olive oil and plays well against the cream and any stone fruit or tomato on the plate.
๐ฒ The Bottom Line
Corkfire Kitchen is a genuine wildcard โ a resort restaurant that actually cares about its wine list, leans into local Temecula producers, and prices things like it wants you to order a second bottle. If you're wine tasting in the Valley and need a proper dinner stop, this earns a seat at the table.
