Tourist Trap Wine List, Drink the Beer Instead

The wine list at Coconuts feels like an afterthought stapled to a menu focused on rum buckets and waterfront views. This is a place where the house white comes in a water glass and nobody bats an eye. If you're here for the wine, you've made a wrong turn somewhere.
The list reads like someone walked into a Total Wine with a hundred-dollar budget and grabbed whatever had a fish on the label. California Chardonnays that peaked in 2003, a token Pinot Grigio, maybe a Malbec for the steak crowd. No regional depth, no interesting producers, nothing that suggests anyone in the building cares about wine beyond checking a box. Fort Lauderdale has better options within walking distance, and this ain't one of them.
The glass pours are what you'd expect at a beach bar: Barefoot, maybe a Kendall-Jackson if you're lucky, all served at room temperature in whatever glass is clean. We counted maybe four options, none rotated seasonally because why would they. Order a frozen margarita instead—at least they put effort into those.
Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc — $38
Still overpriced at 3x retail, but at least it's cold and won't actively ruin your stone crab
House White by the Pitcher
Lean into the beach bar chaos—at least the volume makes the markup sting less
Caymus Cabernet
Same bottle costs $80 at Publix and this isn't the place to drink it anyway
Domestic Lager + Coconut Shrimp
We're being honest here—this isn't a wine restaurant, and the beer list is better suited to the food
❌ The Bottom Line
Coconuts is a perfectly fine spot for day-drinking beer by the water, but the wine program is nonexistent. Come for the location, skip the wine list entirely.

The Terrace Grill isn't where you go to chase down rare bottles or get your mind blown by an unexpected producer — it's where you go to drink well without overthinking it. For waterfront Mediterranean dining in Fort Lauderdale, that's a perfectly respectable offer.

Anthony's Runway 84 is a Fort Lauderdale institution that knows its audience and delivers exactly what it promises: big Napa names, old-school Italian comfort, and no surprises. Wine-forward diners may find the list a little safe, but the Italian highlights and the fresh Wine Spectator Award of Excellence signal that someone here is paying attention — even if the list isn't ready to take risks.

Ft. Lauderdale Beach · Fort Lauderdale · Steak House
Steak 954 is a legitimately strong wine program for a beach hotel steakhouse — deep on the producers that matter, proper storage, and a by-the-glass count that punches above its weight. Markups are what they are at this address, but if you pick smart, this is a great place to drink wine with a serious piece of beef.

MAASS is the real thing — a sommelier-driven program with genuine depth, proper glassware, and staff that actually knows what's in the cellar. Markups run steep at the top end, but this is a Best of Award of Excellence list for a reason, and it earns every bit of the credential.

Daniel's is a legitimate Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence earner — the list is deep, the heavy hitters are all here, and the room is built for serious wine drinking. The markups sting and there's no sommelier pushing you toward discovery, but if you know what you're looking for, this is one of Fort Lauderdale's best bottles-over-dinner experiences.

Bluecoast is exactly what a good beach-town wine program should be — approachable, California-driven, and backed by someone who actually knows what they're doing. It's not a destination wine list, but it's the right list for this room, and that's worth something.

The Gulch · Nashville · American Seafood
Marsh House is carrying one of the most serious French-focused wine programs in Nashville, full stop — and the seafood menu is built like it was designed around the list. The markups sting and the staff isn't yet at the level of the cellar, but the bones here are exceptional enough to send anyone who cares about wine.
