Decent Pours, But You're Paying for the Ambiance

Wingman Metrics
Cibo Vino walks into the room dressed nicely — warm lighting, modern Italian vibes, a wine list that looks the part. Flip it open and you'll find familiar, bankable names that won't offend anyone at the table. It's the wine equivalent of a well-ironed shirt: presentable, but not exactly adventurous.
The list leans heavily on California with a nod to Northern Italy — think Paso Robles Cabs, Napa Chardonnay, and a token Pinot Grigio from Valdadige. You'll recognize almost every label here from a grocery store end cap: Meiomi, Decoy, Cakebread, La Marca. There's nothing wrong with any of them, but if you came hoping to stumble onto a grower Barolo or a left-field Sicilian red, keep walking. The Italian restaurant name writes a check the wine list can't quite cash.
The by-the-glass program runs 12-18 options in the $12-$18 range, which is reasonable for Omaha's upscale-casual tier. Rotation doesn't appear to be a priority — the lineup reads like it was set at opening and hasn't been touched since. You're getting safe, widely distributed pours that hold no surprises, for better or worse.
Decoy by Duckhorn Cabernet Sauvignon — $60
At 140% markup it's the least punishing bottle on a list full of gouging. Decoy is a known quantity — smooth, fruit-forward, crowd-pleasing Cab that works for a table of mixed drinkers. Not exciting, but you won't feel robbed.
Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio Valdadige
Most people default to the reds here, which is exactly why you should order this. At 116% markup it's one of the tamer hits to your wallet, and Santa Margherita is genuinely one of the more food-friendly Pinot Grigios you'll find on a list like this — crisp, clean, and actually Italian.
J. Lohr Seven Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon
Nearly a 200% markup on a $15 retail bottle is a hard no. Seven Oaks is a perfectly fine everyday Cab — emphasis on everyday. At $44 a bottle you can do much better elsewhere on this very list.
Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay Napa Valley + House-made fettuccine
Cakebread's Napa Chard has enough oak and body to stand up to a cream or butter-based pasta sauce without bulldozing it. It's a classic call for a reason, and at a place that makes its pasta in-house, this is the move.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Cibo Vino is a perfectly fine place to drink wine in Omaha — the room is good, the list is safe, and you won't be embarrassed by what you order. Just go in knowing you're paying a premium for familiarity, not discovery.
South Central Omaha · Omaha · Steakhouse, American
The Drover is a steakhouse that knows what it is and serves a wine list to match — safe, California-forward, and priced for a special occasion whether you wanted one or not. Send a friend here for the ribeye; tell them to pick Jordan and skip the Caymus tax.

Aksarben Village · Omaha · American Comfort Food
Beacon Hills is a genuinely warm neighborhood spot with food worth coming back for — the wine list, unfortunately, is an afterthought dressed up as a choice. Come on a Monday when bottles are half price, order the Claret, and enjoy the pot roast.

Saltgrass Omaha is a reliable wine stop for steak night, not a destination for wine nerds. Order the Jordan, skip the Caymus markup, and enjoy your beef.

Old Market · Omaha · Brewpub / American
Upstream isn't a wine destination, but it earns real credit for maintaining a 100-bottle list with fair markups and a Monday half-price program that's genuinely generous. If you're here for the beer, great — but don't let that stop you from ordering a bottle of Au Bon Climat.

West Omaha · Omaha · American with Northwestern, Hawaiian and seafood influences
Twisted Cork is doing something genuinely unusual — a coherent, Northwest-focused wine program in a landlocked city, built around food that actually earns it. The markup inconsistencies are real and the Columbia Crest pricing is embarrassing, but Wine Monday at 50% off bottles resets the math considerably — go on a Monday and this list gets a lot more interesting fast.

Vincenzo's is not a wine destination — it's a neighborhood Italian where the pasta is the point and the wine list plays a supporting role with zero ambition. Come on a Tuesday, grab the Santa Margherita or the Decoy at half price, and let the list do its job without asking it to do more.

West Toledo / Reynolds Corner · Toledo · Italian
There's one reason to come here for wine: Thursday. Half-price bottles on a standing weekly basis is a genuinely good deal, especially on the Santa Margherita. Any other night, the markups are steep and the list doesn't justify them.

Carrabba's Toledo isn't a destination for wine — but it's not an embarrassment either. The Ruffino Chianti Classico alone earns its keep, and if you stick to the Italian side of the list, you'll drink reasonably well without drama.

Marisi is a reliable Italian wine list with genuine ambition hiding behind a steep markup structure — the producers are right, the regions are right, but you'll pay for the privilege. Go for the Produttori Barbaresco and the Pre-Phylloxera Barbera, and you'll leave satisfied.
