Wingman Metrics
Twelve wines. That's the whole list. At a bar-first spot in College Park, that's not a failure — it's a honest statement of priorities. What matters is whether those twelve bottles are priced fairly, and here, they mostly are.
This is a greatest-hits lineup of grocery-store staples: Joel Gott, Raeburn, Oyster Bay, Murphy Goode, La Crema. Nobody is going to find a surprise here, and that's fine. The list covers all the bases — bubbles, white, rosé, red — without any regional depth or adventurous producers. Malbec from Piatelli and Shiraz from Stump Jump at least gesture toward something beyond the California comfort zone, even if only slightly. What's notably missing: anything from Europe beyond a Sicilian Pinot Grigio and a bottle of Prosecco.
Everything on the list is available by the glass, which is genuinely useful at a bar where you probably want one pour, not a commitment. Prices run $6.50 to $9 per glass — honest numbers for this kind of spot. There's no rotation, no half-price night, no specials program; what you see is what you get, every night.
The Bottom Line
Brake Pad isn't trying to be a wine bar, and the list doesn't pretend otherwise. Pricing is fair enough to make ordering a bottle feel like a reasonable decision rather than a punishment. If you're here for the bar vibe and want an uncomplicated glass of something red, you'll leave fine. Just don't show up expecting discovery.
